Not even bantering but I think a League 2 side would get more than 10 points over a whole season.
@bradleyallen-holland20043 жыл бұрын
You'd be surprised. The quality gap between the Prem and League Two is just toooooo high because of the money involved in both leagues; prem has billions and billions while a lot of league two clubs are almost bankrupt. Morecambe came 3rd or 4th in the league and lost 7-0 to Newcastle this season

@GyitMulhaneski-GloriousYears3 жыл бұрын
A lot of rotation and loan players. Hence no consistency. Picture: Roy Caroll, Laurent Robert, Carl Fagan, Dean Moxey, Robbie Savage, Danny Mills, Dean Leacock, Kenny Miller (don't laugh), Jay Maceverly, John Mackem (? - the ex Man City 6'er) - that's about a third of the squad and a mish mash of Davies' and Jewell's players - his players often having bona fide Prem experience but were signed expensively in blind panic and the capacity crowd every week haven't even got the joy of youngsters being brought from the Reserves or through the academy. Davies had broken the transfer record to buy Robert Earnshaw then inexplicably leaves him on the bench most games. Jewell signs Savage who - at that time possibly all Derby fans detested until he won them round the following season - he then decides to play him in a position not suited to anyone over the age of 27 unless they're truly world class, throws a tantrum and confounds supporters and club directors by trying to sending him on loan to the Middle East for the rest of his contract. How Billy Davies or Paul Jewell even found their own way out of the house and down the street without a carer - let alone hold a job down at a club Derby's size - I DO NOT KNOW!😫 So basically starting 11 probably not a good description. If I remember any more standout names I'll get back to you.

@GyitMulhaneski-GloriousYears3 жыл бұрын
@@craigsimpson3901 Me also! I don't know if you can find it online but its worth tracking down the interview Robbie does with local radio where he totally loses his rag after a bad performance in one of the following seasons - he had managed to rehabilitate himself with Derby supporters when he played under Nigel Clough but he suffers from this obsession that some players/ex-players where they think their opinion is sacrosanct and people who pay through the turnstiles each season somehow don't understand the game they're watching! It was Colin Gibson vs Robbie Savage anyway c. 2010 or so, it's a legendary clip. I also ought to mention as an addendum for the relegation season in your query, players who were largely exempt from the worst criticism and abuse (mainly because of being too old or out of their depth in the top flight: Steve Howard who is still remembered fairly well - along with Darren Moore - and was a regular under Billy Davis and was great in the lower divisions but looked totally surplus in the Premier; Tyrone Mears - tipped for England briefly went to Marseille I seem to remember.) I do seem to remember Peschisolido, Edworthy and Eustace had probably gone and those last two were young enough to have decent careers after.👍

How did Derby get on the season after this?
@GyitMulhaneski-GloriousYears3 жыл бұрын
Spent all the parachute money. Badly. Then relied on Nigel Clough to dig them out of trouble with loan signings, blood, sweat and tears. Clough Jr - an absolute legend. But a glutton for punishment depending on how you look at it.
