Patrols don’t actually know where you are. When they spawn in, the game puts them on a trajectory to intercept your current location, but if you move a decent distance, they’ll miss entirely.

@@Xeonzs not really. The enemies don’t know where you are, they just spawn with a route that crosses your position at the time they spawn. They don’t react to you moving or anything else. It’s not like they’re temporarily aware of you, they just happen to be going the right way, provided you don’t move.

Heavily doubt it since I’ve done that before and they can’t hear you walking unless you’re close enough within their range. Hell even shooting some stealth weapons like the sickle didn’t make them hear me

@@adamgill9730 Idk what you mean, stealth is already added and it's overpowered against the bots tbh. You can solo helldiver difficulty missions very easily and the bots wont see you until you're literally 3 meters in front of them. The bugs are modeled as if theyre using smell so it's harder to use stealth against them. The bots need to have their vision buffed.

You can do this when it sand storms if you're wearing the scout armor, you basically become invisible.

I remember me and a friend were doing the satellite tower side thing (the one where you align the radar dish while another manages the terminal) and we saw that there was a patrol of bugs a charger strolling by. It was at impossible (the difficulty), we barely had any ammo and half of our team was doing objective far from us. Meaning if we got into some trouble, we'd empty our mags halfway. Without saying a word, me and my friend immediately went into prone. I was perched next to the radar tower but my friend was hiding behind the terminal, begging not to be seen. Thankfully, the bugs passed and completed the radar without a hitch. I never knew stealth was an option before buying this game but thank liberty it is.

That damn radar dish. By the time I type "left 10 degrees" they have already turned it right 180 degrees. Then by the time I type "left 180 degrees" on the goofy ass PS5 controller, they have turned it right 50 degrees. But I guess moments like that are half the fun.

Nope, it must be something you or your teammates have done that gives your position away. I tried solo on bug maps, and I had bug patrols walked by me like 10 feet away and didn't see me

Stealth mechanics arent a secret. Devs have talked about them in interviews about how stealth was unintentional but entirely welcomed

I remember playing a mission wearing a light armor once. Blizzard rolled in and walked right past an automaton patrol. I walked right up to one of the scouts and he somehow still didn't see me.

A team of randos and myself were doing an Automaton mission. It went south pretty quick, still got everything done, but the whole team ended up crawling back to extraction. It was pretty fun and funny.

I’m my groups sniper and I abuse stealth, getting on a hill with the jump pack, and sniping everything that comes at them, or anything that’s gonna spot us, usually I almost never get caught

Did this with one random (only 2 of us) on helldive at extraction. 3 tanks, 1 factory strider, hella devastators. When the shuttle finally arrived he just said "fuck it. shock and awe." we threw down every bombardment we had and RAN. Hollywood couldn't write a more intense script.

The COD one is realistic though, ghillie suits are designed for that exact purpose, they're pretty much indistinguishable from the rest of the environment they're meant to be used in, even at extremely close range it can be difficult to notice someone with one on if you don't already know someone's there
