I’m a 74 year old lady and I get irritated when someone reminds me that I’m old. I feel 40. My body sometimes reminds me I’m not. I’ll live to 100. I’ve always felt that way. I’m super active, still lifting 50# bags of horse feed with a bad back. I’m building and filling garden beds, and about to build a house, my 3rd. I think that staying off the couch, staying active, and eating properly keeps me young, and NEVER letting someone else tell me what I can’t do.

I just turned 78 last April. I thought I was "Forever Young". Worked out at the gym. Did weight training. Ate healthy, took my vitamins. No liquor, no drugs. Lived a pretty clean life. Loved the same person for 40 years until they passed away in 2017. How did I get to where I am ? The one thing that has made me old is being alone. Society is pretty sickening right now. All the things I fought for my whole life seems to be slowly taken away. It's almost all behind me now and in a way, I'm glad. One day soon, I'll be free........

Thank you for sharing. Please read the gospel of John and Romans and ask the Lord to reveal Himself to you. Eternity is certain. For proof google the latest evidence on the Shroud of Turin and the chariot wheels filmed in the Red Sea. Signs and wonders that were promised by God to the end times generation . In regards to society read 2nd Timothy 3: 1-4 or just google it if you don't have a Bible. God bless and keep you.

I lost my wife , 66 years old last week. We have been married since 1989. I sat in the hospital with her 12 hours a day for almost two weeks. Toward the end she started hallucinating, contracted a condition DIC where the body clots and bleeds, watched her body core temp drop to hypothermia , I looked at my daughter as she wept and told her, I'm sorry it's time honey, turned to the Doctor with a nod, he replied you are so right Sir we are doing her more harm than good. So proud of my daughter as I told her this is the hardest thing in her life she will have to endure, all else will be fine. We have yet to find out what caused her illness as she was fine prior to all of this. While taking care of matters this week I was reminded how all of our gained material wealth that we work so hard for has no value what so ever, only the time you spend with loved one's is the upmost importance as one day we all will take our turn for that "cycle of life." Her date of birth December 25, 1956 ❤️ 😥

@@Metamorphica2 I cannot recall how many times that question was asked of me, yes she had all the covid vaccinations, Transported to the number one hospital in California, top rated ICU in the Nation, Cedars and as a teaching hospital seen by over 50 physicians. A professor even asked permission to write full literature on her case for his lectures. Something was breaking down her muscle tissue which is very toxic to the liver and kidneys. All I could do was hold her hand and let her know how much she was loved and so sorry. Hoping her autopsy will reveal the cause. When did we get old?

I guess I remember more than most I remember Vietnam. Nixon, Reagan. Bush and 911. Anthrax in the mail. And now Trump and his attack on our capital and constitution, we have lived thur some bull shitt. I'm mid 60s and I never expected a past president to say he wants to be a dictator and remove our constitution, Trump has set a new low and the Republicans think that's a good deal , just remember that the 14th amendment section three disqualifies Trump and Republicans involved in the insurrection from holding office.

I’m 74, my husband 76. We started “going steady” at 15 & 17. Just recently we realized we are at the end. It’s a very sobering thought. Sooner or later, every human being will have this realization. I hear that, cindy. I keep planning for next year, and assume there will be more of them. I try to picture my life alone here, and it's a bit daunting, then I try to picture HIS life alone here, and that's equally daunting. I'd much rather be the last one standing, for whatever it's worth. Not that we have much say in the matter =)

We are almost the same my wife is 75 I am 76 Married December 21st 1966, My wife was still in high school I was on 2 wk leave after basic had to go back Jan 1st . Christmas is still a big happy time for us. We did not have a wedding just our friends and immediate family being our friends and family the feelings we had at that time get repeated every Christmas season, my wife would not have it any other way. Everyone thought we made a mistake , glad they were wrong. We are at the end too but death won't happen in our lifetime so why worry.

I once had a boss who could have easily retired comfortably, but he still drove 40 miles to work 6 days a week. One day I asked him why he didn't retire, & he said something that's stuck with me to this day. He said John, "you need a reason to get up in the morning". In other words, staying busy doing what you love is the key to a long life. I "retired" from the outdoor power equipment industry at age 62, & started a auto detailing business 15 years ago. I'm 76 now, and still work 6 days a week at my own pace doing what I love. Yeah, I have my share of aches & pains, but I have never been happier. I always say, I'd rather wear out than rust out! I encourage anyone our age who is feeling down on themselves, to do some soul searching, find that thing you love to do, turn off the TV & get the hell off the couch! Find a hobby, volunteer, mentor young people, make things, repair things! That is my prayer for you 🙏

I agree. I was a jogger until this morning, and realized with a tear in my heel, i have to return to fast walking, which I resisted for the last 3 months, The pain levels were too much to bear. I am 66 years young, i always told myself, and the truth is, never stop working. There must be a purpose to wake up every morning, mine was to go for a jog for 10 kilo each morning, it keeps me alive. Keeps the depressing away, because one is not so busy with the mind anymore, that is still dangerous for me. Too much time to think, too much time to feel lonely and too much time to feel the pain of losing so much in my life. So i keep myself busy and healthy by being active as much as possible, There is nothing like nature to draw nearer to the Lord. But if one has the opportunity to continue to work as long as possible, one must grab it and hold on to that, otherwise you grow old much too quickly.

I am very sorry to read you lost someone so dear to you. It may sound trite since it's said so often by people that don't know either of you but "he would have wanted you to move on and be happy." My father often said two things about this phase of life. He spoke Greek so the rough translation into English of the first is "give flowers to the living, the dead don't need them." His meaning was don't wait until someone dies to heap flowers on their grave showing how much you loved them. Once they are gone, they are gone. Show them that you love them while they are alive since they won't see or smell those ephemeral flowers on their grave. The other thing he very often said was "life is for the living." It has two meanings, really, but it boils down to "while you are alive, you should live!" Don't sit around waiting to die or wallowing around in grief or self pity. Live! Life is a precious gift, use it!

Someone said, "We blinked and we are here. We are old. It goes that fast." For all of you young folks out there, if the good Lord lets you live to an "old" age, take note. Life goes by very fast. You probably don't give it even a second's worth of thought as you go about your busy days, but you will be here before you know it. Slow down, cherish every breath you have been given, get off of your phone for a few minutes, and just enjoy being alive. And even more important, get to know Jesus as your personal Lord and savior. Without Him, all else is worthless.

I recently almost lost my husband. Married 36 years. Together 39. As I was following the paramedics to the hospital I thought, this is how it happens. This is when I become a widow. In the ER watching the staff cut his clothes off and trying to save his life was a surreal experience. The physician said he had a few hours left at the time I called 911. His illness came on quickly and was out of the blue. He survived. I am grateful of course. But it was a wake up call. That we are at the end of life and need to prepare. We’ve started getting rid of the belongings we’ve lovingly collected. Things that hold memories. But it must be done as we have no children and I don’t want strangers sorting through our things. The end of life is strange. Very strange. Be grateful folks, for every minute. Make as many beautiful memories as you can. Have fun. Get outside and breath the air. Take in nature. Move about while your body lets you. Because it was yesterday it seemed that I was a young girl who met a young man. We blinked and we are here. We are old. It goes that fast.

I used to take my elderly mom to her doctor appointments. At one appointment- she jumped up onto the examination table she told the nurse "you know I never felt old until I turned 91" 🤯❤️ Bless her heart-she MEANT IT!! I'm turning 72 this month and I have wondered these same thoughts in this song, as my health declined. I keep her words in my heart and try to stay positive, but this song speaks to me and ABOUT ME. Thanks for a song many of us can relate to!! 👍🏼

Breast cancer, Covid, Trimalleolar Ankle Fracture needing two surgeries, C Dif, and now a hand problem that has extended to my shoulder, yet to be diagnosed correctly at 78. Depression and anxiety over a moving added to the mix. Life is no longer fun or satisfying with my 59 year marriage.

I'm 'only' 68, but have numerous health issues now..., and I feel that all I can/am doing now, is watching the World pass me by!!!... I used to be a 'Man', & could build anything, and make my kids proud!!!... Now, my body totally fails me, so I need others to help!! I think... "I'm not old!!!"... but I am now... There used to be nothing I could not do, or Try!!!... I guess I just have to let it go now... I still have the 'Memories' though, of all the good times when I contributed to life, and felt proud......

My Daddy ( my hero) was a Vietnam Vet. He was consumed with about 8 different cancers in the last 20 years of his life which was caused by The Agent Orange exposure. He didn't die in the War, but the war still killed him.
@user-kgroves13

I can totally relate. My dad the same. Agent orange. PTSD he's not the same person. He can't live by himself without trying to take his own life because it haunts him so bad. Luckily I still have him for a bit but he tried to hide the huge pollips they found when doing his colonoscopy. He came from the biopsy after I just talked to the doctor who said results will be back in a few weeks and he'll have a follow up. My dad got in the car and I asked how he was feeling and he said oh good they found less than last time only a few small ones and they're all benign. I knew he was lying the doctor just told me 7 very large ones and he wouldn't have his biopsy results right then anyway 🤦‍♀️ he was a trooper all right. Still waiting for the results and I will get them. But you're 100% correct they may not have died in that war but they paid the ultimate sacrifice. That war was disgusting. My dad was also bipolar 1 before he was drafted so in my opinion someone in that state of mind is a recipe for disaster. The way people treated them when they came home, spitting on them and everything else makes me sick. I hope karma gets every single one of them. Did they think they wanted to go some Still in high school?? I don't know what is wrong with people. And then people don't understand why there are homeless vets? Because they don't have anyone to help them and can't function because they fought for their freedom that's why!! Ugh so frustrating. Bless you and your father. I definitely feel your pain.

I call this change -- my second chance at life. I'm grateful I've had a lot of new experiences. The wonderment & work of country life has kept me physically young & young at heart. But country life is hard. There's no Kroger just around the corner and people are kind but not too welcoming into social circles. I'm leaning towards accepting I'm a converted city girl and am ready to return "home" (city). Simply hate to give up something I started.

12 years ago, my dad, who was thenin his early 80s looked at me and said, Melanie, one day you'll wake up and you'll be 80. I didn't think much about it because it seemed so far away. That's where he was... not me. I'm now 68 and feel it getting closer every day. Time waits for no one.

What a tribute to life. We all age. It means we’ve lived. Whether we’ve lived our best life or the best life we could under the circumstances matters not, we accomplished things some thought impossible, overcame things others could not, climbed higher than we ever dreamed, failed more times than we care to remember, learned more from failure than just losing, lost more than others, loved harder than most and we are still proud to be here taking every day as it comes. We may have more gray hair, more wrinkles, move a bit slower but the experiences we’ve had, the things we’ve seen and the knowledge we’ve acquired make each and every one of us much more special and important than we’ve ever been in our lives. Growing old gracefully? Maybe not, but growing old greatly ABSOLUTELY. Thank you for the song, think I’ll have it played when I die in about another 100 years.😊

@@RhondaWeddle-l3mLife is what we make it. I decided a long time ago there’s those that need money to be happy, my idea is this. Money means nothing but a roof over my head and food on my plate, the roof doesn’t have to be fancy to keep the weather out, the food doesn’t have to be rich to fill the belly but the one thing in life I require is that the company I keep has to make me laugh. I owe no one money but I owe God for the laughter. Thank you and keep laughing.😂

Thank you for your words! I was sobbing by the end and couldn’t read your comment out loud to my husband. We’ve been raising twin grandsons for the last six years and we lost our middle son two years ago at age 42! @@pamcollins1651 I’m so sorry for your loss and inspired by your dedication to your family. God gives us all challenges some we fall miserably and some we struggle through but you and your husband were obviously up for yours. Never think for a moment you are alone or that you can’t take the next step, half of that step you’re being pushed by a force much greater than you and I. Go for every step, stride for the next marker you didn’t get this far by being a quitter and you have young eye’s watching and learning what it means to be strong, determined, confident, resilient and dedicated to have and make the best life possible no matter what life throws at you. I tip my hat to you and your husband! God be with your family.

Lordy buds, you sure hit the mark. I'm a widow, my parents are gone, my sister is gone. My friends moved away and for 15 years I left my roots to start a new life. That is until hubby died. 76 years old and doing great considering that I went through seven weeks of cancer treatments last fall for cancer of the vocal chords. Radiation Mondays through Fridays and chemo on Mondays, Thankfully they got it and I have been cancer free for a year. Amazing how time flies. I feel very fortunate. I am even able to begin singing again. Happy since they weren't sure I would ever talk again. There was a chance that my voice box would have to be removed if the treatments weren't successful. Love this song!

Beautiful song. I’m sitting here older than dirt. Super woman has plummeted like a rock back to earth. Sure wish someone would have taken care of me like I took care of everyone else. This society turns away from the elderly-kids have no time for their old gray mom. That’s the biggest shocker. Give your life to others but don’t give it all. It will take everything you have and wring you out like a dish rag. Time to face another day in this old body. Sorry, this is the reality for lots of old super women like me. At least I managed to have my poetry and painting all for myself. I’ve actually won ribbons totally untrained. Have something for you. Leave something that shows you’ve been here besides kids or houses or money. Just you.

I just turned 61 also in October. The ole body pains have kicked in. I realized last year that my 50's are now gone too. Where'd my life go ? What ? I'm not 32 anymore ? Nope. I'm not. Well...I Raised 2 kids. Raised 1 grandchild. She grew up and left recently then poof I suddenly 😮got older. ❤😢 Just woke up one day after she left and I was not young anymore. What a shock ! Overnight !!! Now I'm Working through it... With God helps me. Glad I have him by my side. 😊 We all need to truly enjoy every moment of everyday we are breathing because it goes by fast. Then on to our next life. For me I've chosen God and Heaven as my destiny. Hope you and everyone truly really lives the rest of their lives daily instead of letting it slip silently away. Too fast. Great song ....keep singing.
