My husband passed away July of 2019 I was having a really hard time. He was only 57 I was sitting on the porch listening to some music my husband love country music. So of course I was listening to a lot of his songs that he used to listen to. And underneath one of the songs I was listening to popped up Just Breathe. I listen to this song and it really made me realize that you just don't tell people how much you love them or you don't realize how much you love them until they're gone. So I sit on the porch and I listen to this song all the time. And most of the time I'll start crying . I love Willie Nelson. Keep up the good work Willie

I often think of how painful all love inevitably ends up. And only a handful of people get that deep mutually connected timeless love and apreciation for each other till there twilight years. I can't imagine haveing that. And losing that person when your in the later years in life.. That would be horrible, and that's the best case scenario.. That's what we all search for in the quest for love. And we think we've had our hearts torn in half over betrayal, or neglect, or not having our love returned by the ones we loved. But all that painful heart ach really pales in comparison to getting and sharing a deep mutual love, then losing it.. I can't imagine it.. And I've loved and lost, and thought I was so broken but I now think about how that was still getting off so much easier then getting what we all hope for and losing it..

My grandfather Bill Holford worked with Willie Nelson at the start of his recording career. He was a recording engineer who had started his own studio (ACA) in Houston in 1949. Willie made his very first recordings there in 1954 as a guitarist for Dave Isbell. Willie also assembled and led Isbell’s backing band for that session. Later, in 1960, Willie needed someone to make masters of his songs Nite Life and Rainy Day Blues, because Pappy Daily (owner of Willie’s label D Records) had rejected these songs, which Willie had recorded at Gold Star. Pappy didn’t think those songs were real country music! Willie took the recordings to Grandpa, and he made the masters for him. I’m so proud of my grandfather for a million reasons, but nothing makes me more proud than his involvement with Willie Nelson’s beginnings! Willie is the greatest! 💕

Love this song and its a treasure to find after being a Willie Nelson fan for so long. 3:35 "Love you til I die, meet you on the other side" so felt. I've seen Willie Nelso I've seen Willie live 3 times. I remember seeing with my Mom at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo in the 90's for the first time. I bought a red Willie Neslon bandana at some point that I would carrie my harmonicas around on my travels and camping. I would unwrap my harmonica and play "Red River Valley" "Will the Circle Be Unbroken", "Amazing Grace", "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" or a Blues Rift...or just make something up. THANK YOU Willie for being one of the most important musical influences in my life! As with most things words don't do justice to all the memories and feelings felt while with music.

That us so very cool. That Eddie Vedder did feel so honored . I heard Willie Nelson's version first, then was curious about who wrote it ( music & lyrics) and then only discovered it was written by Eddie Vedder. I love both versions and I'll go back & forth between the two. So much feeling there, & I can't imagine Eddie not being pleased and honored by Willie's beautiful, almost haunting take on his composition. I think of my Mom mostly, when I listen to it. She's gone a year and a half now. Some of those lyrics overtake me. "Nothing you would take, and everything you gave." Yes Mom. I'll "meet you on the other side" some day..

OK...haven't left a comment in awhile but I feel compelled to here...first of all when your making reference to folks like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson your talking about LEGENDS.....These ARE the men everybody else cut their teeth on and they actually lived the lives they wrote and sang about and they were both around loooong before N.I.N. and Pearl Jam came along...but just as iron sharpens iron these icons have the talent to recognize the work of other artists in other genres as well....you speak of pay'in respect to the writers...when Trent Rezner learned that a country artist had obtained permission to cover "Hurt" he got upset...when Johnny found out he refused to record it until he talked to Trent and got his blessing...THAT'S PAYING RESPECT! LIVE in the music ya'll...and don't limit your horizons...and always recognize those who's back it was built on....one love ya'll!

Big Mike You are uniformed my man. Trent didn't dislike it because a country musician was covering it, he hated it because anyone was covering it. He said "hearing it was like someone kissing your girlfriend. It felt invasive." This was AFTER the recoding was already made. It was because it was his most personal song. As far as this one goes, to say that Mr. Vedder hasn't lived it and isn't an icon in his own right is just way off base. The guys has been doing it for almost 30 year now, for the love of god, please show some respect as we all show Johnny and Willie theirs as well. Peace.

My grandfather introduced me to all the GREAT country music singers, Willie Nelson included. He’d play his country music records after dinner every night. Even though it’s been 25 years since you left me. I miss you so much grandpa Robert Holder ❤️

Twenty eight years ago my dad left this earth. What I wouldn’t give for one more hour to just sit with him and listen to his scratchy old albums again. Meet you on the other side Dad.

This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our heart.

My dad passed away September 10th 2022 at his home in Austin. During his final hours and while in a deep morphine induced peace, I played Blue Eyes and My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys. He loved everything about Willie. He was 85, and I miss him so much it leaves a pain in my throat when I think of him and the conflicts we had in his final year. I even wrote a song about it called “Just Another Day.” I look forward to seeing him again on the other side.

This breaks me wide open every time I hear it. I listen to it at least three more times before I stop crying. Then I smile… and I remember… the love and memories we had, the everlasting love, and that makes my heart smile…and breathe. I love and miss you dad. Thank you. ❤️

My grandpa passed a few days after my bday in Feb and this song reminds me of him. I miss him. He’s the only person who’s ever loved me completely. He had written me a letter and the last line was, “If I don’t see you before then, we will meet again back home.” That is now tattooed on my arm as a constant reminder of the man who saved my life. I miss him so much.

Willie Nelson sang while his fellow Outlaw musicians played this song last night. The world felt and was at one at that moment...snug under a settling San Diego evening sky.
