Whatever the reason, Satan belonged to one of the highest ranks of angels but fell in saying non servium - I will not serve. (Of course Satan spoke Latin. 😉) St. Michael belonged to one of the lowest ranks of angels but was exhalted for saying מיכאל - Who is like God?

Bojan what’s your view on the Book of life? Does the Orthodox Church believe you need to be in the book of life in order to get into heaven or is there different beliefs?

Hey Boyan! I have a question for you. In the Philippines, there is a splintered branch of the Roman Catholic Church that does not recognise the authority of the pope. But, in many other senses, they are Catholic in practice. They are the Iglesia Filipina Independiente (Philippine Independent Church). That was just backstory, my real question is this. In this church, they dip the bread in the wine then eat it. Does that count as "The Body AND The Blood" in the Orthodox mindset?

Wait! Don't you, orthodox siblings accept the Augustinian doctrine on time? That Eternity is not the endlessness of time but the absence of it? If it is so... basically Satan fell outside of the time, and there's no place for the question "when". I've alse heared the theory that you point out, it's kind of popular in some Catholic circles... God bless you!

For the orthodox, only God exists completely out of time, so only for him does eternity mean absence of time. For all others (including christ in his human nature), eternity refers to the endlessness of time. It is said that the spirits live out of space and time, but only in the sence that they experience space and time in a different way than the physical beings do, as if, I don't know, living in higher dimentions perhaps?

As an orthodox you’re right

@@kostpap3554 yes but such a story is metaphorical, I’m not saying that satan didn’t oppose God, but that there was no event where did this happen. That’s the nature of things

@@OrthoFireCrusader Yes there was. Genesis three. Satan falls by enticing man into fall out of envy. And that's not me saying it, that's the fathers saying it. For them the angels are part of the creation week, that's why they have them being created either on day 1 or day 4. The notion of spirits preceding material creation comes from milton's paradise lost.

@@kostpap3554 many fathers believed that genesis is metaphorical, and that no we never literally ate from a tree… Adam represents each one of us, and I asked a Priest about the role of the devil and he said that according to Saint John of Damascus we are the main reason of our choices and the demons don’t have much to do and aren’t principle reason of our sins. And not everything creates has to be in time, God could create angels in a way we can’t understand

Well Satan fell before the creation of human kind. Its simple. Its on the bible.
