Welcome to the weekly live Q&A with Pastor David Guzik, author of the Enduring Word Bible commentary. After our lead question, Pastor David takes questions via the live chat - simply add your questions & our moderators will arrange & deliver them to Pastor David according to theme or subject!
This week, Pastor David's lead question comes from Ron @ronb997 : "We talk about the New Covenant all the time - but when did the Old Covenant end? Animal sacrifices ended on 70 AD when the Temple was destroyed: is that when the Old Covenant could be said to have ended?"

This week's questions:
0:00 Greetings and introduction
2:14 Lead question
15:00 Are we born again before we believe, or do we believe and then we are born again? Do you have any Scriptures to support your thoughts? thanks.
22:15 Hi Ps Dave - working through the book of Ruth and wanted to find out the qualifications of a "Goel" or kinsman redeemer - does he have to be unmarried?
24:38 Praise Jesus Pastor David Guzik. I just want to know about mercy killing (euthanasia). Is it Godly to take a loved one’s life to free them from suffering medically? Could one ask for it for themselves either in advance (Do Not Resuscitate) or while in such a state, or could loved ones make a choice to end suffering, which would not be unacceptable to God?
29:13 Praise God pastor, I heard you commenting on the TULIP and you said "when I go to heaven, the credit goes to God and God alone, and if I go to hell the blame is all mine!" Why? more clarification please.
32:50 My friend’s discouraged because her deeply Catholic family prays through Mary & appears to have their prayers answered. This does not lend them to looks elsewhere. Are prayers of unbelievers (or prayers to Mary/Saints) answered?
37:30 What are your thoughts on Titus 2:3-5? Is a woman allowed to teach theology/bible to other women, or should she ONLY teach the things laid out in those verses?
43:20 Hello from Mauritius. I have started 2024 with your commentary from Genesis. I understand that Adam and Eve were interfacing with Jesus, since none can see the face of God the Father and live. However , after sinning, the same person of the Trinity who was walking in the garden ( supposedly Jesus) refers to " Him " in the third person during the curse to the serpent, saying that "He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel" (His is capitalized, as is "her Seed"). it seems now that God the Father is talking about God the Son. Who is then talking to Adam and Eve? Thank you for your kindness and love towards all of us. God bless you.
46:12 If we have sinned against people in our past, whether we were Christians back then or not, should we go out of our way to apologize and make amends? Is making amends spoken of in scripture?
50:31 What do you think about the thought that God's salvation covenant is somehow with Himself? (Gen 15:17-18, Luke 22:20, Eph 2:8-9)
53:53 Would it be acceptable for a woman to baptize another woman? Would the baptism be valid?
57:52 I'm homebound & follow many Calvary Chapel churches. By the time I watch them and they've been edited, I've missed the communion part. Can you recommend a website where I can partake in communion?
58:36 If we are saved how do we deal with difficult family members still deep in Orthodoxy that shame us and constantly try to get us in their church for the Eucharist? How can we deal with those who are convinced THEY are the ones who are following "the true path?"
1:00:15 I know you talked on this relationship with God, how HE keeps us, but we also must abide and persevere..sometimes when all hell's against you, you're shattered and just cant - what is to be done then?
1:01:46 About Adam, when did he start to age, was it when God created him, or when he sinned and started to die?
1:02:47 Do we "Repent and believe" or "Repent and be baptized?"
1:03:45 Do you have a thought of what the role of the Holy Spirit will be in the new heaven and earth?

Hello Pastor David! As I grow in my relationship with the Lord, I’m learning more and more how good His plan is and I trust Him completely with the plans He has for me. That being said- I’m left wondering why we as Christians pray and ask God for our wants and desires. I understand praying in thanksgiving and adoration, but I don’t understand why I would pray for my will when I truly desire His will above my own. Should we ask for our wants/desires (healing, provision etc) if we truly desire Gods will over our own? Can our prayers change the outcome of a situation? Do our prayers change Gods will? Thank you so much for the work you do for the kingdom. God bless you and your family 😊

Hi Erin, Good questions. We pray for our needs because Jesus said that we should. Matthew 6:11 says...."Give us this day our daily bread". And yes, our prayers can change things if we are asking according to God's will. Please read the commentary from James 5, starting at verse 13. I hope that this helps. Blessings! enduringword.com/bible-commentary/james-5/

@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Thank you for this QA series pastor, blessed by you and your ministry. I've had a question I've been mulling over for a while that I don't have an exact answer for. It revolves around what constitutes whether a sin is habitual or not? Reading through the old testament (and throughout the Word in general), I seem to come across so many believers and strong figures of the faith in habitual sin. When I look at David, it seems he had a habitual sexual sin as he held multiple wives and concubines. This was passed down even more to his son Solomon. Peter denies Jesus not 1, not 2, but 3 times etc.... I struggle with this because I look at it like, these people seem to be in a habitual sin which leads to death and keeps us from God. I think it's impossible to put a number on it, but when does a sin become habitual enough to keep us from salvation? Or can it? Thanks Guuuz!

The key aspect of saving faith is that someone keeps coming back to Jesus with true godly sorrow and true repentance, or the true desire to repent. Sin is always forgivable. Jesus told us to forgive offenders 70 times 7, or in other words, as often as it is needed. Surely, God knows those who truly sorrow over their sin, as opposed to those who think they can "use" God's gracious forgiveness to get away with their sins. Also, 2 Timothy 2:19 tells us... Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” I hope that this helps. Blessings!

David in 2 Samuel 7 12 -16 it was eternal. Abraham Genesis 15 it was eternal. Also waiting in Abraham Bosum for Christ Crucified. The old covenant no one is saved by the law. Daniel talked about God's mercy not his righteousness a everlasting righteousness. Esau sought salvation by his own heart with tears when it's by grace. The time of the Cross has passed but still people looking to a covenant which they call new that waxeth old. If you can loose it. It's old covenant. If you can keep it eternally by the blood of the new covenant it's new covenant

I am sorry to disagree with your teaching regarding praying to Holly Mary and the saints, pastor Guzik, We do not regard them as dead people but living alongside with the Lord Jesus in heaven, and we do not pray to them for savior power, but rather to mediate for us in front of the Lord, just like for example people come to you and ask you to pray for them to the Lord, neither we worship them, we only worship Jesus Christ. And it doesn't matter if they are in another dimension because The Holly Spirit is everywhere
