Nice tutorial fellas. Great explanation on teaching a plan B in case plan A doesn’t work. But like you said, a lot of research and development to get to the point where you react without thinking about it because seconds count.

Thank you. Training, sensitivity and not locking up is important. Always gotta have a back up to your back up to your back up :)

Thank you, our goal is to break down the drills and techniques as much as we can. Old school instructors would show it first without clear explanation and then expect you to follow.

That's why it's important to keep practicing basic drills, since it helps us to transition faster and in a more natural way. In this kind of situation we can't waste a second thinking what will be our next move but by practicing basic drills over and over again somehow our body will remember the moves/actions and will react faster.

Exactly, most people tend to get tense and lock up while trying to think about their next move...then it turns into wrestling. The key is to keep calm and relaxed even during the adrenal state.

always like to pop the ear with a slap, a flick or something. Really distracts them, usually long enough to do something they don't notice. My three favorite things to do is step on the feet, mess with the ears, and say weird things to them when I get into trapping range. all three of these things has worked at the dojo, in the cage and on the street.

Yup, redirection, just like magicians drawing your attention elsewhere so you don't see what they're doing with the other hand.

They work but people forget that the perpetrator is still a threat and can possibly ouch and kick with ir without skill

If you can grab to get an advantage, why not. Hope it doesn't get ripped off in the process LOL!
