While these people act so bad-ass in Court, they are the complete opposite when they must return to jail, first arrive at the county jail, or return to jail awaiting transport to a State/Federal Correctonal Institution. The same ones who overreact are the same ones that will throw a human waste "cocktail" at you. They usually do it for all of the wrong kinds of attention, and some have done it to receive a charge of assault of a Law Enforcement Officer so they can spend more time in County. Most Counties are a skate in the park, but the more notorious, like Cook (Chicago) Ector County (Odessa TX) Escambia County (Pensacola) will leave you begging to get out of there.

I don't think a lot of these people are insane. I think they're just hit with a lot of adrenaline, combined with whatever makes them commit the crime to begin with. Others are simply evil. Not insane... it's just easy for a non-criminally-minded person to think "they MUST be insane," but I don't buy that for one second, and think that gives them justification that isn't warranted.
