This makes so much sense! My lo is 17.5 months and for the past 4 weeks she's been taking 2 short naps..it takes her forever to fall asleep for naps, she just plays in the crib which pushes her bedtime late... I think she is definitely ready to drop to one nap! Thank you for this video! You are amazing!!!

I am a bit puzzled. My 10 month old is indeed going through a big developmental stage - she has learned to sit up on her own and crawl within the last two weeks. I noticed that our usual 2 nap schedule was not working so well, because she would need much longer to fall asleep, specially at her afternoon nap. This meant she was going down very late at night. So we have started to do only one nap, (1.5 hrs) which means she is about 4.5-5.5 hrs awake at a time. BUT, is sleeping well at night and not really having any issues staying awake during the day. Not sure what to do. I did like the two naps, but not the going so late down for the night. One nap seems to be working fine, but again, she is only 10 months old.
@Babysleepmadesimple3 жыл бұрын
Hello! We recommend 1 nap when your LO is between 13-18 months. Your LO is a little bit on the younger side and could have been struggling with sleep because of the developmental changes. I would continue to try for 2 naps since the awake times would work best for her age. Just keep her super active during the day and practice crawling and sitting up on her own so she doesn't feel the need to practice during sleep. Also, check out our 10 month old sleep guide for helpful tips! Best, Alyssa, BSMS Support Team www.babysleepmadesimple.com/sleep-training-10-month-old

My daughter is exactly like that. 10months old and no problems being awake for 5,5 - 6,5hrs in the morning. Then nap for 1,5 - 2hrs and then goes to bed around 7pm and sleeps for 11,5 hrs. Occasionally she would have 2 naps but some days she just wont and cries a lot because doesn't want to sleep. So I just offer her some quiet time in her room at the time she would normally have her 1st nap. We read a book and she has a bottle or something like that

@@douxhealth-beauty3196 Hi! My daughter is 2 years old now and she's totally happy and healthy. I realised that every kid is just different and you have to adapt to their needs. She still has 1 nap and sleeps for about 2 hrs o more if I let her! Then bedtime around 5 hrs later and sleeps through the night. Basically you will know what your baby needs because if they are restless is because they are so tired.. but if they are happy and sleep well then means they can handle whatever routine they are on.. Always offer naps and quiet time, but if they don't want to and are happy afterwards, then they don't need it 🤷♀️

My 10 month old isn't looking sleepy around nap times, so we have been strolling her to sleep, but it's taking an hour in the stroller now to get her to nod off. She's basically looking to play for most of that time. She's skipped the afternoon nap two days in a row now and she's doing okay with that. I feel that if we pushed the morning nap later she'd sleep much quicker and do the 2 hours. Is it so bad for a baby under 1 year? Last days she has been awake 8 and 6.5 hours after first nap and not had any meltdowns or any alarming behaviour.
@Babysleepmadesimple8 күн бұрын
Most kiddos are ready for 1 nap between 15-16 months. I would stick with 2 naps for now. Your LO could be going through a bit of a sleep regression and this is causing some nap resistance. Babies under 13 months that drop to 1 nap too early can sometimes handle it for a few days, but then sleep debt starts to accumulate. I would teach your LO to fall asleep independently in her crib in a blacked-out room. This is the best way to ensure good long naps! We cover this step by step in our naps program and we would love to support your family too! We noticed that recently about 5 days ago our 9 month old takes a 3 hour nap does she need a second nap? Her nap is from 9:30am or 10am and she sleeps 3 hours from that time. Her wake up time could be at 6:30 am or even 7:30am but I like to wait 2 hours in a half or 3 to put her back to sleep. She plays a lot with her 2 year old brother. Her schedule at night can be from 7 or 7:30pm this is the time she goes to bed and wakes up around 6:20am or sometimes she wakes up at 7:20am should I drop the second nap ?

My 23months baby girl used to sleep or nap twice a day and 1hour each nap (morning and afternoon nap). Its been like 2months now that she only have 1hour nap in the morning and so sudden she doesn’t sleep in the afternoon anymore, she just keep kicking around in her cot or cry to get my attention. Ive been so worried, upset and stress out that she might get sick if she wont sleep much during the day. And she also keep waking up at night crying, like having a nightmare or something. 😔😢 I dont have good sleep every night also. Its very exhausting. ❤️

My son is 14 months old, almost 15 months. This is only day two of his second nap being resisted then pushed back. I didn't know what to do so I let him nap (4:45 pm) because he usually goes to bed between 7pm and 7:30pm. He sleeps in his crib at night, but, we still cosleep for naps. At nap time he cries for about an hour when I was trying to get him to nap in his crib. Do I have to go back to that in order for him to get to the longer 1x a day nap? This morning he napped next to me for almost 2 hours.

Good morning You have been a great help, my son is now finally 14month 2 weeks old. How do I navigate my son sleep pattern when he wakes up at 5 am every morning I leave work at 6:30 the school then lets him sleep from 9:00 until 11:00 am sometimes till 12:00pm, by the time I finish work at 14:00pm there no time for a power nap due to the fact that his just not tired 😂 and then I place him in bed by 6pm just to repeat that same cycle over and we are exhausted 🥱. The teacher are not allowed to force him to sleep and even if he is tired and the place him in his cot they won’t wake him up for 15min nap which I understand they have other kids to attend to as well, I understand as teacher point of view but as a parent I’m finding it super hard 🥺

Hello! 12 hours of sleep at night is amazing. It is totally normal for the length of the nap to be shorter at first during the transition. The best thing you can do is just keep being consistent while you work on it. Try to leave your LO in the crib an extra 15 minutes every 2-3 days until you get to the desired nap length! My 16 month old is still taking 2 naps but we struggle with early morning wakings. Her naps used to be 9am and 2pm for about 1.5-2h long but suddenly her first nap is 2-2.5 hours(could it be growth spurt?) but then we push the second nap, I put her in a crib around 2.15-2.30, she talks a a lot, calls me by name lol only falls asleep around 3pm and sleeps until 4.45pm which pushes the bedtime. When we tried to push her first nap she would only sleep for 1-1.5 hours and then skip the second nap. I am wondering if I should wake her up from her naps or maybe push her first nap more gently like 15min every few days. We aim for 7pm bedtime but even more for 7am morning waking time.
