The first metatarsal also rotates on its axis as it swings out. The ligament system that should be beneath it and big toe is now more towards second toe joint. The foot as all of our body is an amazing work of engineering, but bunions are unfortunately a fact for some people, the binding force of the outer foot can’t keep that first metatarsal in line any longer. when i was a boy, i already had the pain from too much walking. But, didn't really think much about it. Until i got enlisted to the military, it becomes worse. As i still thought it was nothing, and didn't know until only a few years ago that it was called a bunion. That's when i google about it. I realized now how common it is. Sometimes i feel like cutting the whole toe-off. Sometimes, i couldn't even walk but other times it seems ok. I'm going to try the bunion corrector if it'll straight my toe up. I kinda afraid of surgery. Also, it'll cost.

I have a very high pain tolerance but when it comes to my feet the agony I feel from impacts is unbearable. I have moderate hallux valgus with no pain unless I bang my foot on something. Would I be suitable for surgery?

I've had one since as long as I can remember. I actually thought my non-bunion foot was the weird one when I was a kid because foot drawings always show the foot having a little outward piece at the big toe joint. Since we're just born with feet shaped to have bunions, I think any age is normal for it to start hurting.

I’m 12 and I have a bunion on both feet and it’s really painful and when I’m doing my school work I can’t think cause my bunion really hurts on both feet especially my right toe. My mum won’t take me to the doctors to get it checked so I might as well go when I’m older to go to the doctor without any parent because my mum won’t take me probably when I’m about 18

Sweet heart you don't need surgery I fixed my bunion problem with exercise of my feet during watching movies. Walk on tippy toes to avoid locking in, your joints must remain flexible. Watch KZbin videos on foot exercise and do it while you watch movies daily for about 3 weeks

I'm only 27 I've had 3 ankle surgeries but now I have a tailors bunion when I drive it feels like I'm having a knife stabbing me should I have the surgery? My Dr said my bone is moving in a different direction.

Consult your doctor. But like what was mentioned in the video, it's likely an option since you're already having pain. Usually, the doctors will tell you that if it's not hurting, they recommend not complicating things. So the surgery is usually recommended when it's already affecting activities of daily living. Hope you're doing well.

I have this plus hammering/malleting of my left great toe. I am one of those rare birdies whose hammer-toes were congenital so I have fought through osteo. & Podiatric surgeries before; my Great toe is now envious, wants to kiss # 3 toe, in a week and half His " plotting" will be thwarted with yet another surgery. Exercise is cheaper and will fix the problem for life. Please watch KZbin videos on it. I avoided both feet surgery with it.

Oh it isnt all pain free and rainbows. Around 4 days after surgery when they take the wrap off wooo its ugly. Then the dry skin and when they take the stitches out...

plus is does take an entire 6 to 8 weeks for the bone to heal and a respectable doctor will say no walking until that point. I was in a wheelchair for 8 weeks because i couldn't use crutches.

Amen. I have no idea why the footwear industry insists in perpetuating this self-created disease. People simple wear whatever they can buy at stores, and right now people buy funnel-shaped shoes because that's all there is at stores, that, plus the fact that "minimalist" footwear is overpriced. It would cost a big company such as Adidas next to nothing to make minimalist footwear (wide toe box, zero drop, thinner soles). It really isn't rocket science, but I guess too many people are making a ton of money from unhealthy feet (for example the clinic that posted this video, Indy Podietry).
