I just discovered how terrible I am on acoustic! Those strings REFUSE TO LISTEN!!! SUCH INSOLENCE! The action is up near the ceiling. The strings have to be like .050 gauge or something ridiculous like that, right? RIGHT??? Led me to buy a 1985 Ovation Collectors Series. Feels like starting all over.

If beginners wants to play electric guitar they are not required to start on acoustic, because thats Just an extra obsticle and they are likely giving up easier or have a harder time.

I only play acoustic because that's all I got, the one my parents got me for Christmas in high school. I play fingerstyle, which is really difficult. You'll be spending months on just one song. Days or weeks on even one bar. Speaking of bars, bar chords are much more difficult on acoustic. It's just raw sound, so a lot of sound will barely come out. You have to push the strings down hard and hold it very firmly and precisely. That got me to thinking. If I can now play the acoustic guitar decently, with a bachelor degree in music in fact(though on a different instrument, but still helpful), then electric guitar might be a pretty easy switch for me.

@@Itsshaunbewarned i'm not saying you shouldn't play anything on it. I'm saying that if you just start as a beginner, there is no need to start with an acoustic first then "graduate" to electric. It required more strength to play on it, but that's the catch. As a beginner everything is hard, even on electric. And if you just started because you want to play music that uses electric guitar there is absolutely no need to start on acoustic. It will only demotivate you more, because it's hared to play and you're not even doing what you wanted in the first place. You get finger strength from it, but as for hand movements, i don't think so that much.

I can say with affirmation as I changed from doing flamenco and a classical guitar style to electric guitar, it felt so weird how easy it was to do riffs and slide. Facts

Damn can't wait for the day that I can switch to electric idk why but acoustic just isn't for me . Sadly I'm not good enough yet . Maybe a year from now ill be good enough to get an electric

I dunno whether you play accoustic or classical guitar, but I remember that I was waiting the same way as a classical guitarist. However, you have to keep in mind not to put down your accoustic, otherwise your hands will get waaay weeker than before. But of course I'm just saying that, I don't know you, nor your case.

I was like you 6 months ago as well.... What I want you to know is electric guitar is easy to play , but electric guitar techniques are tough. I play rumba on acoustic steel string guitar 💀 .... I thought I will learn to sweep pick in a month , but it's tough... It'll take time. I will advice not to leave your acoustic or classical whatever you are playing even after you buy electric.

Bass player who has only dabbled in the subject of guitars with small experience playing classical, acoustic and electric guitar. None of the 3 are harder than the other but they are all different in some ways, some skills will translate but they are most definitely entirely different instruments.

No, don't do it, it dirtied my playing more than cleaning it, because of the tiny stuff you don't hear without amp, the correct thing is to use little distortion

there's no way this is true, I play unplugged a lot (because my amp sounds like shit) and whenever I do plug in I hear all the unwanted noise I wouldn't otherwise hear
