Petty story: my neighbors were having a party next door. I don’t mind but their music was shaking my walls. I asked them nicely to turn it down so my kids could sleep. They turned it up louder. 🙄 so the next morning I let my kids go outside and scream and play and bang on things early in the morning 😂

Had neighbours that kept us awake for more than 2 weeks straight........to the point where one night I was standing on our side of the fence on the phone to the police while the neighbours played music so loud that you could only hear the beat.....you couldnt understand what it was and the ground was vibrating......my husband retaliated by using a shovel to scrape the concrete next to the garage the neighbours had all passed out in........he started about an hour after the music and shouting stopped......oddly enough they were not happy about the noise we were making.....

Tune up day. And check the idle. Requires a bit of revving the engine. And oh yes, Chris, didn’t you need to tune your guitars? Before work, at say, 8 or 9 am? I think I need to add to add nails to the fence, and maybe cut a few pieces of lumber.

I don't understand why people are so "in-your-face" and why they can't mind their own business! I was at the beach in the Caribbean back when I was 28 with my husband (30) and his family when a wild Karen walked up to me and my husband. She felt compelled to tell my husband how disgusting he was for "kissing a teenager". I looked young but I didn't think I could pass as a teenager. She was even trying to pull me away to "protect me from the pedophile." The police got called and I ended up showing the police my license which clearly showed that I was 28. She huffed and, of course, declared that my license had to be fake. That was 10 years ago and we still joke that he robbed the non-existent cradle.

Charlotte, I was feeling kind of Kareney today because my neighbors had their car doors open and they were blasting their music so loud that I couldn't even hear my own phone call in my house. I stood on my porch, like a K, and glared. I thought about what I wanted to do instead of just calling the police. I thought about you, and had a "what would Charlotte do" moment. So I walked over there and asked them nicely to turn it down, and they did. Crazy. Simple.💞

I know, its kinda crazy that can happen. I went to a Statbucks (not my usual one) and ordered what I always order. A cream cold brew. I got a coffee with a few bubbles on top, no cream. Boy was I mad. Bur I walked in, set the undrunk coffee on the counter and kindly said “can I please have a refund?” They asked to remake it, I said “no thank you, just the refund” there was NO issues. I got refunded right away. Weird.

Although I don't do this, and also hate it, some people do like to party at the beach and all be listening to the same music and hang out and dance and talk. I get it, and if someone came over, nicely, and asked if they could turn it down a little I think that they should. I do think though, some people are annoying, want to live their life how they want to, and they don't care what anyone else thinks, and to me, it's just easier to move away from them than start a fight, but maybe that's what makes me a non-Karen...

The fist one, the "investigative journalist" isn't really a journalist (she's a KZbinr) and she wasn't there to investigate anything. She was purposefully being intrusive confrontational to other beachgoers in order to film the confrontations for her KZbin channel. When the police eventually showed up, they told her that even though it's a public beach, other people have the right to enjoy the beach without being harassed, and made her leave the area. That was a much more "Karen" situation, where she kept claiming that she was a journalist and that she was going to sue the police because they stopped her from harassing other people in public.

The thing with fireworks for me, is that they literally scare animals to death. One of my friends has to give her dog sedatives on new years even and sit at home with the dog the entire night because of the fireworks. And it's not even that, that is the biggest problem, it's when people shoot fireworks for WEEKS before and after. There are also a lot of people with anxiety and PTSD that can react really bad to the sounds.... I personally love the looks of fireworks, but i don't put me liking the pretty colours over the health of others.

Agree. We started giving our dogs sedatives as well, and as a small child seeing how scared my dogs were and that we had to drug them, it confused me so much why people did it in the first place. Especially in a desert where most of the time someone would unintentionally start a fire. I even knew people who set some of these fireworks off, and they always said they knew what they were doing so it was fine...and the people who unintentionally start fires probably felt the same way. I have my own personal "Entitled people at the beach" and it's a Swedish story that happened just this summer. Someone found out that a bunch of rich people claimed part of public property as their own just so they could get a private beach. Once the public found out they occupied said beach (and bridges the rich had built illegally) and the people won as the city council began to FINALLY investigate in this. 5 out of 7 bridges, including one who had a heli pad, had to be torn down at the owners expense.

So when I got a chance, I got temp assignment there as well. So we'd been dating for almost 2 years when I got there. (She is Pilipino by the way. 2nd Gen American, Grew up in CA) Whenever we were out at a local beach or local restaurant, I'd get shit from the locals about dating a 'local' girl. I had at least 3 fight when they'd attack me over it. When the police would arrive and we BOTH would explain what was going on, and the police would chew out the locals THEN LET THEM GO!!!... They NEVER would be charged with Assault and Battery. Natives on Hawaii REALLY HATE that 'howlies' would like and try and date the local girls, because it was 'taking away those girls from the local guys'.... what kind of shit is that? Actually this isn't easy in many countries. Mine has only 2 small cost lines and one of them is so heavily influenced by ebbs and floods that you can't really go there. So the beaches are always overfilled. There is no "drive further then" and no "swim somewhere else then". Just do not fish at the beach. @@JaseekaRawr From my experience, I see fishers at the pier and around it but not just on the public beach where swimmers are. There can be a lot of issues at least from where I've been. People aren't expecting it and can't see the lures all the time if they're swimming, making it more likely the waves can carry the line and someone can get caught in the hook which is really not good. Even if it didn't, releasing the fish in itself isn't bad but around swimmers a bleeding fish can attract sharks. Where I've been, I've seen hammerheads and makos and bulls and tons of species (even some non aggressive ones) which can be a big deal for anyone. Like I'd really like to not get a shark bite because someone was inconsiderate? At PCB in FL where I've been, there's a fishing pier. People do swim around there, but it's very much at your own risk for obvious reasons and imo you can't tell someone not to fish when that's what the area is for. But in a place where no one else is fishing, it can become a serious hazard. IMO be considerate of others? If I was fishing in an area no one expected me to and it attracted a shark that bit someone, that would be awful. I wouldn't want to do that to someone nor would I want it done to me or my loved ones. Im sure different areas have different accessibility for those things, but I'd just hope people take a look at their surroundings and make a proper judgement call.

OMG THE SAND WRITING ONE. In middle school I had a Wiccan phase, and one day I used those little wild berries from our bush to write "draw close to the spirit of the land" on the ground (a quote from one of my tree books or some sh*t), but at some point my super religious condo neighbor noticed it and actually went out of her way to bend down and rearrange some of those tiny little berries in the dirt to change "land" to "lord", and then pointed it out to me later and basically "how cool is that" that the little change could make it about God lmfaooooo. I literally thought it was from animals or weather and just a coincidence that it now looked like "lord", until she told me she did it. She was psycho in many other ways but this is the funniest (the rest were mostly anger-inducing).

I had a neighbor Karen get pissy because I was outside, in the back parking lot, in my car, smoking. She could apparently smell it from her apartment, kitty corner from my car. Literally couldn't be any further away. I later pissed her off because she was taking 4hours to do an 1.5hours worth of laundry, and I shifted it for her. It was on low. She was breaking all but 1 rule our apartment has about laundry. Went off on me, calling me a meth head (I was 200lbs and 6months pregnant), I've NEVER done drugs. Weed doesn't count and it had been like 3 years since my last smoke. She moved out a week later, still breaking apartment rules by blocking the entire back lot with her crap. The apartment requires movers to be parked out front. Just my most recent experience. It was fun getting her all worked up over laundry. She slammed the door on her way out of the room. Lol

I majored in forestry at Oregon State. We had several field trips through several classes. One thing becomes abundantly clear when you visit dozens of parks in a couple years. Places that are free bring the worse kinds of people. With no investment from the land user, their is no consideration for the resource they’re using. This attitude also extends to the way those kinds of people treat other people. “It’s a free place, they should be the only ones there!”

In my state you legally need to be a certain distance from doorways to smoke (public buildings of course). Most people ignore the law and as a non-smoker, it is super annoying to have to fight through a cloud of smoke to enter or exit a building. I imagine it's much worse for people with asthma or other respiratory issues. So, no I don't find someone requesting that you move away from the door unreasonable. This year I found out quite by accident that the cut off for fireworks outside of the 4th in WA & OR is 10 pm so I can understand being a little annoyed trying to get sleep so you can enjoy your 4th of July & being kept up all night by fireworks. My son's dad was going to pick him up on the 4th so we got fireworks to light off on the 3rd, we live in a very tiny town that is very safe so I was a little shocked when we came outside to find two police officers across the rd talking by their cruisers. My son wanting to be respectful walked over & asked if it was ok if he set off his fireworks, both officers walked over & explained that in WA & most of OR the cut off time outside the 4th was 10 pm but wanted to see what we had. I showed them it was just a pack of kids fireworks & they were like oh we really only enforce that rule for the big ones or the really loud screaming fireworks so you can set these off. I explained that my son would be at his dad's the following evening which was why we were out on the 3rd & they were so cool about saying "well this is your time for fun fireworks isn't it" and asked if they could join us for a few minutes. They would block the wind so my son could use the safety lighter & when the wicks on a few were very short & my son was a little nervous they asked if he wanted them to light them which he said yes thank you & handed over the lighter & then they did some confetti poppers with us. Police in our town are very different from a lot of communities, they do enforce laws of course but silly stuff that doesn't hurt anyone they tend to just let go especially if you're polite about it or ask first.

I joined a dying church once. The new, young pastor was trying to revitalize it. The pastor wanted to start live-streaming services. The 20 people in the congregation freaked out. Wanted permission slips filled out, wanted to be able to opt out, the choir didn't want to be taped because they might make weird faces as they reached for a high note. The law in our state allows for filming anything in a "public space". That law is further defined by the statement that "private space is that in which one would normally be comfortable disrobing". So, if you aren't getting naked in the pews, it's considered PUBLIC.

I'm hypersensitive to sunlight and florescent lighting. I cannot step outside without sunglasses and I often wear them inside especially in stores, doctors offices, hospitals. I also burn extremely easily so I dont take chances. When I go to the beach I usually rent an umbrella or take my own. I have every right to enjoy the beach too. I make sure I don't block anyone's sun and I try to get out to the beach before it fills up so that I can claim a good spot. Usually as close to my car, golf cart, hotel, rental as possible since I'm also disabled and use either a cane or walker depending how good I feel that day. There are some people with ME/CFS though who cannot even stand to leave their room where they live in total darkness due to their light sensitivity. I plan to enjoy what I can, while I can just in case.

I literally have to listen to other people's music foisted on me at just about every single public place I have to go to during my day. People never want to just hear their own thoughts and the sound of the world around them.

For these reasons I just go bright and early before all of that starts and just enjoy the silence and nature of the waves, watching the dolphins jump up, and hearing and watching the birds. Best time to go on walks as well. Early morning and around 9pm is when I go for just relaxation. I try to distance myself away from drunks and incredibly loud music. A bit of music is fine, but I just don’t want it to be blasted in my ear so I just find a spot further away, and my 2 kids and I still get to enjoy the beach. ❤

Where I live, fishing (outdoor activities in general) is the culture. And the draw for tourists, and the reason one of our main employers are bass boat companies. So we try to respect the anglers’ spaces. And if they brush off a greeting, they’re playing with a fish, or they were taught to keep quiet to “not scare the fish” when they were young’uns. On smaller streets and back roads everyone still raises their hand off the steering wheel to wave at oncoming traffic (ok, ya caught me - we rarely have traffic, and there’s no stop lights for about 7 miles - that’s the next town)

Even if I go to an remote and quite area without many people around and am just chilling quietly, there'll be that one family that comes up with their kids there and they're all shouting and playing music and basically my quiet environment is destroyed. So I again get up and hope not another comes in their place. Because of the "public place" argument, the majority of them decides if the particular situation is normal or not. For instance, yesterday I had an appointment and wanted to go by the grocery store and recycle some cans before it. When I got there, there was a guy full of bags of cans and only one machine. I came up to him and asked if I could quickly recycle mine because of my appointment. I was very nice and you know what? He was super nice too and let me go and continue after I left and we both were very pleasant towards each other. It is creepy to be circling the kids and filming them in that way and I would tell her to stop too. However, she really doesn’t have to. The US Supreme Court ruled, several years ago, that you have no expectation of privacy when you’re in a public space and there was no provision made regarding age. So, creepy or not, the law is actually on her side because no one needs your permission to take video of you in public and there’s nothing you can do about it. You can ask them nicely not to but, it’s up to them whether or not they comply. Your only recourse is to leave the area.

Scooch away, I guess. They have just as much right to listen to it as long as it's not violating any noise law.

Literally just leave if it bothers you so much lmao, people are allowed to enjoy music whether it’s up to your standards or not, especially on a beach where there’s typically so much space to go, no one’s forcing you to stay and listen to it 🤷‍♀️ You’ll find it’s easier to live when you just let people do things that literally causes no harm to you
