This is a fantastic video!!! It seems that the I/O, stageboxes, and server need to all run on stage. What also seems to need to happen is having a backup cat5 or 6 run and also a backup computer at FOH for redundancy.

Basically you are spot on. It's not possible to have a connected computer on stage for redundancy sadly. But if everything but the host is on stage you are probably at the most secure state with the Soundgrid network. There are a bit of redundancy issues to sort out for Waves in order to make this 100% secure.

I’ve had my LV1 host break down on me only once during the second song into a show. Audio was still going to PA and monitors. Band didn’t notice anything! Even my TTS mic was still working via DsPro1000. When I asked the band to be quiet for a couple of seconds in between song, I restarted LV1 software and audio was only interrupted for about 3 seconds maximum. Shows was back on again!! 👌🏻 My setup: - DsPro4000 on stage / master - Extreme C X10on stage / main server - DsPro1000 at FOH - Extreme server X9 at FOH / redundant I always set up / turn on stage before FOH, and check redundancy before sound/linecheck.

@@aa_soundvision you can check redundancy in the drop-down menu from one of the servers in the set-up / servers tab. Where you see server info etc.

I have always server and stagebox with master clock on stage and only the host computer, sometimes with talkback stuff too, at FOH.

Waves recommends having the main interface and server close together too. I think your way is the way to go.

I have both servers, switch and stagebox as master clock on stage. The only thing at FOH is the host and some IO for talkback and PFL. Seems to me the most logical, as most bandwidth is between the server and IO, so there is short good quality shielded cables between the server and stagebox. The cable between stage and FOH is usually provided by the sound company when I'm doing festivals or bigger stages and that way I don't have to worry too much if that cable has perfect signal integrity.

I guess that the recommendation is related to the maximum distance betwen components. Soundgrid host to switch can work over a weaker signal (100MB/s) and the maximum distance then is reduced from 100 meters to 20 meters. Also from a traditional mixer, if the console dies, the sound dies. My 2 cents. Keep on with the good content!

Right. But nothing really speaking against actually having the server up on the stage. And just the host at FOH since it can take the longer cable run. Thanks for your input :)

when you disconnected at ~5 minutes, in a state where the FOH server was the master, and I understood that you hoped that the thing would actually stay up when the FOH switch shuts down - because You had the master clock attached to the FOH stage box, that's why everything died , but if you had the clock attached to the Stage BOX, then the sound should have remained functional. EDIT - You came up with it yourself in the 13th minute

Mix mirror app is still working because your host computer is also connected to your wireless router via Wi-Fi. But if you turn the Wi-Fi off on your host computer then mix mirror will disconnect

The strange thing is that the wifi card is disabled in the host computer. And it has never been connected to the router via wifi so it doesn't even know the password. But then again that's the only explanation so ... yeah, I don't know. Ghosts? Magic?

The best solution i think is: 1. server on stage 2. host on stage running LV1 app 3. master IO on stage (LV1 will never fallback to the FOH io as master) 4. host on FOH running RUSTDESK (or Teamviewer) and control LV1 app remotely (just the same way as MixMirror does) 5. Advanced: Using MIDI over Ethernet like BOME to remotely control LV1 on stage with Waves FIT controller Between STAGE and FOH you need 2 cat5e: 1 for audio, 1 for remote access (or basic comuputer network) I think you have done remote access network but just via WIFI (this can work also but i like the cable)

You might be right. I'm a bit afraid of adding more complexity with Rustdesk and Bome. More things that might break. Then again, IF they break, the show goes on. Thanks for your input.

@@AlexanderGibbonsAudio No directly, but this is not the case,bcause you can have BOME klient at LV1 host on stage, ane BOME cllient at FOH host... so FIT connected via USB to the FOH host, patchet virtualy via BOME as midi device via network to LV1 host at stage

It is more complex but if something died (like you said more things that might break...) but if will... nothing really happend.. evertyhing just works and show continue.. only what you "lost" is control over LV1 but this is the same when broke something what you tried plus will be noticable audio drop..
