Dude that scene with the dog attack seriously messed me up for the last 2-4 days since I watched it Monday. like I was having horrific nightmares of my actual dog wrestling a possessed black lab and becoming possessed herself, only to wind up being chased by both dogs…………..no horror movie has done that to me before, and I consider myself quite the seasoned horror movie viewer

I just saw this a couple of days ago & OMG! The scene with the dog & the little girl...HOLY SHIT! That seriously got to me because I had a Mastiff as a pet for 11 years! AND I swear I could smell that big dude! It's been a while since I've had a feeling like this at the end of a horror movie! I wish now I would have been able to see this in the theater, but unfortunately, it only played in one theater near me, for 1 day only & had 2 early afternoon showtimes on a Friday!

I loved this film for the fact it wasn't afraid to break all the rules. The moment that dog grabbed that little girl I knew from that point forward to expect anything. Me and my girlfriend both sat speechless in disbelief during that entire sequence.

This film came out of nowhere & disturbed the hell out of me & I loved it. So many scenes I’ll need mental bleach for, but the dog one likely being the worse. Incredible story, well directed & acted. This has potential to crack my top 3 horror of the year. Great review Mike!

I think people are not understanding. The main character is not stupid. He may very well be possessed from the moment they move the fat guy around. The evil thing messes with your head and you don’t act with intelligence. There is even the possibility that the whole movie happens in Pedro’s head. He sees things that don’t exist, does not know what’s real and not. It’s actually a very interesting premise

It’s a French film and I had to mute it on a 10-12 minute SA scene. That movie will haunt me for the rest of my days.

I love how brutal and unforgiving the movie is. Usually you see little kids and you know "ok they will survive 100%", but then the dog scene happens.. I watched for first time Hereditary and Cuando acecha la maldad same week, and felt same way on both. Excellent movies both, different but same sort of topic. What I love most about cuando acecha la maldad is that it depicts the rural life in Argentina pretty well despite the main characters force the accent a little bit. Despite that, solid 10 and great to export horror all round the world!

I feel like both this director's films I've seen (this and Terrified) are what Roger Ebert used to call "idiot plots" and I can't get past it. We know what will happen because they give us these arbitrary, nonsensical rules and then break them immediately. There should be suspense in that if we watch things unravel, but when everyone's an idiot to propel the plot forward the entire time... The sole thing people seem to talk about is the violence against children, but that's just shock value and it didn't carry the film. Every shock was followed by another dumb decision, and I'm not someone who even whines when people trip in slashers. I expect it, I don't think we're all going to make the right call all the time. It's just that they're SO stupid. "Don't leave me alone!" Okay, I'll immediately leave you alone. It reminded me of Pet Semetary: Bloodlines. I could not care about any of these characters, so I had no stake in it at all.

I really liked this one until one weakness became too glaring to go unnoticed the closer we got to the end. As things inched toward a climax, Pedro consistently had to be just stupid enough to keep the story going. The nonsensical stage-axe thing at the end is what really got me flashing back, realizing how much of this never could have proceeded if Pedro didn't always make the wrong choice or do something that was just profoundly stupid.

THIS IS A MUST SEE FILM! Dude, I absolutely fcukin love how u do commentary 😂😂😂 its like early 2000s comedy that we dont get anymore since ppl turned into snowflakes and whiney biiiiish's! Anyway, its top tier gore (im definitely a gore-whøre lol) such innovative writing to. I love films with "bad endings" and this was very dark. Parts of it messed with my head bc I have a son, hes a toddler and I couldn't bare to watch those scenes.... which NEVER happens to me. Since I became a mother tho it does on the regular with stuff like this. I didnt look away but it was very hard to watch. Pulled on my dead heart stings lol. Anyway for me this was 9/10. I hope theres a sequel thats like a prequel because im officially obsessed with that werid a$$ contraption that kills the rotten ones/possessed. That thing looked so bad a$$! I was hoping that they explained it. If they did it woulda been 10/10 for me. A MUST WATCH FILM!
