Yeah, that's what F1 at the track was all about... That brutal sound and vibrations and feelings of these high end machines all over your body. You could feel the pure power. It always felt as if the world was going under when these cars screamed by a few meters away from you... And that satisfying feeling when you were almost deaf after a 3 hour qualifying Friday or a 2 hour race... ❤ Never gonna come back unfortunately.

I think we can all agree that these cars were waaay too loud, small, manoeuvrable, racy, exciting, and they needed way too much driver skill to get the best out of. I’m sure we are all glad we now have quiet, SUV-sized grip monsters that overtake via a button on the steering wheel and always finish in pace order. That’s what people love most about motorsport.

as of today, NASCAR has the only engines that make the ground shake and your blood boil while passing at you at 150+ mph. F1 USED to have that. Indycar kinda does on the ovals too, not so much on the road courses. WEC and IMSA has its moments, and Dirt Rally and Motorcross have a different feel that isn’t blood boiling and spine tingling. went to a race the first time they hosted COTA, the 2nd loudest race i’ve been to in America. the start off the line was extraordinary and you felt the growl in the engines compared to now.

Videos like this make you miss the older cars more and more. F1 just isn’t the same without its signature howl.
