It’s amazing although how funny, chaotic, and knee slapping DRG can be a lot, it’s moments like these you stop and just listen and just soak in the feeling and nature of the world you as a dwarf are in. This song just radiates the energy of those who came before you, to those who didn’t make it back to the drop pod, to those who were lost in the unforgiving planet’s clutches. This one’s for our fallen brothers. Rock and stone forever lads, rock and stone.

Where Leaf Lovers or Humans might see the caves of Hoxxes as claustrophobic death traps, I think this track shows how the Dwarves view them. In a way, caves and other geological structures are just the architecture created by the planet itself, waiting for billions of years for someone to comprehend and admire its beauty. Just trying to find the right words to put to this track, amazing animation!

It is the fathomless tomb of the planet itself. Dwarves are meant to live, work, and die in the caves. Born from stone, and to stone they return - but not without a fight. Fathomless tomb always makes me think of how big Hoxxes is. It'll take thousands of years to completely mine that rock. So much beauty and wealth. A world that is literally being torn apart, and yet, it somehow persists.

I remember playing the game with some friends a few weeks ago in the radioactive exclusion zone. The pod dropped, we walked out into a small spawn, and our driller went ahead into the dirt. We kept waking through small, claustrophobic caves and at the end of it was the largest, most beautiful cave I’ve ever seen in the game. A 160m cave that stretched across into a pitch dark, spots of green glowing everywhere. Stone had formed into natural bridges and pillars, creating something like a giant web. We spent over an hour in there and I always remember it when this song plays. Great video!

driller here: if you leave the 'pod and the driller immediately hurtles into a tunnel somewhere, it's good odds he's spotted something on the terrain scanner, or he's trying to make a passage to the deeper sections of the cave for ease of access to the pod, during extraction. or, in my case... I just put on Diggy Diggy hole, and do my best mole people impression.

I remember getting a similar generation to that in Hollow Bough. Something about the vines snaking through the barely lit room and just being able to make out the shapes of them from the limited light of my headlamp, knowing that anything could be hiding in the darkness combined with the deafening silence of that exact moment.. it made me completely stop and just take in the beauty of the room for a few minutes. If I’d remembered what button hid the hud in the moment I’d honestly use the screenshot I took of the room as a desktop background

This is how I felt hearing Ode to the Fallen for the first time after loosing a Greenbeard driller who begged to be left behind. Me (engineer), a greybeard scout and a greenbeard gunner were at the drop pod at the 3 minute mark when I see the driller's been downed. He'd tried to drill to the drop pod but was out of fuel and had to go the long way round. He begged to be left behind, saying there was no point in saving him. I disagreed. 2:30 were left. I alone ran what felt like miles to save him, running through and around Haz 5 levels of swarms to get him. I got to him, got him up and we had to effectively climb Mt. Everest to get to the drop pod. I have never been so on point with my platforms as I scaled it like a mountain goat with the driller close behind. Just before we reached the summit he stumbled slightly and fell behind, but not by much as I ran around the corner to the drop pod. 10 seconds were left I made it to the ramp to the pod and looked back to see him turn the corner, only to see a grunt blindside him at 1 hp. I saw him fall and I felt my heart do the same. There was nothing more I could do. I had no time, no field medic and no backup. It was with a shamed turn that I left him and boarded the drop pod at the last second. As much as it pained me, it was better to lose only one dwarf and not two. I'd lost brother's before, but they knew what they were doing and why they decided to fall. That driller didn't deserve his fate. I still have disturbed nights over it. Before every promotion I buy an oily oaf and salute his statue as both a sign of respect and so that the music can properly kick in. He will not be forgotten. No more shall I ever allow dwarfs to be left behind. His statue shall forever stand proud in the memorial hall. Rock and Stone.

I have an existential crisis everytime I hear this song. Even in amidst the absolute chaos of hazard 5 where ONE mistake could easily be the end for you (which I think is the true nature of Hoxxes if we were there in real life), I have to take a moment to really soak up the emotion in this track. Whereas almost every other tracks are dark synth and electronic to pump your andrenaline up, this one stands out from the rest to me as the only track that does not do exactly that. It reminds me, that as chaotic as this game and life can be, there are certain moments where you stop and suddenly feel that there are beauty in the nature of this world, its good and evil, light and dark, everything is in sync, one cannot exist without the other because they are 2 faces of the same coin. Everything you do is meaningless to the beauty of the vast unknown, if it weren't for the ones you love and care for, why do you even try right? Truly, a Fathomless Tomb.

Every mission I load into, I think about the cave ahead of me and it fills me both with interest and sometimes a little dread (too many’s 3s of late). And every mission I leave a spend a moment to think of what I just left. It’s amazing to think you will never experience the same exact cave you just went though, but at the same time the feelings of Deja Vu do happen from time to time. Such a great game.

This track gives you that feeling that dispite being on an extremely hostile panet that is being constanly hit by meteors, microwaved by ita parent star and inhabitated by alot of chaotic wild life that for the moment it has found a peeiod of calmness and peace, and thats why i think this is the best non swarm music in the game

Fathom less tomb is both chilling and and relaxing, it almost reminds me of past memories, I just want to sit and remember many things, it kind of feels like what you would hear if you were watching your memories in real time, then the chilling and subtle end is almost a reminder to how short life really is.
