The most underrated footballing team ever, the team, were a joy to watch when in full flow more than a match for the magnificent Brazillians of the time. The semi-final against Germany was an absolute travesty of justice, Schumacher should have been sent off and banned for life and after nearly killing Battiston. Schumacher refused to apologise for his disgraceful assault. Everyone talks about Messi and Ronaldo being brilliant (rightly so), but Platini deserves so many plaudits for his role in the French team, and in the European leagues, Tirana, Giresse, and Fernandes also highly underrated. A privilege and pleasure to watch, happy memories. This team produced so of the most memorable matches of the 80's never to be forgotten.

La plus belle équipe de France que j'ai connue pour leurs jeu et le génie de Platini qui est toujours le plus grand joueur français de tout les temps... Mais aussi le génie de Giresse le talents de Tigana et tout les reste merci à eux pour le bonheur apporté..

Pour la génération née en 60s l'équipe de France qui devait etre championne du Monde est celle là. Celle de 98 est le résultat de cette fantastique équipe des 80s.

I cried twice in the 82 World Cup. Once after the travesty of France losing to Germany and again when Brazil lost to Italy. No question with today's rules the final would have been France v Brazil - Schumacher would have been banned for life & the likes of Gentile & Scirea would never have had a career. What an absolutely mouthwatering proposition that would have been - a final between two of the best, most beautiful to watch teams at any world Cup in my lifetime, a fitting climax to the best tournament since 1970. Anyone who says different is either blind or too young to remember it.

Spot on, watched France play Argentina in 1978 World Cup that was the start of the rise of France, never forgotten, then the world cups of the 80's and the 1984 Euros when France absolutely dominated. The Platini era was a joy to watch.

Wahoua qu'est ce qu'il était fort ce carré magique. J'avais oublié que même Fernandez était si fort. Quand à Tigana et Giresse des as du foot rt Platini l'as des as du football français le best of the best. Mais comment se fait il que nous ne soyons pas devenus champion du monde avec de tels joueurs.
