When I started teaching, I started out with some of these types of statements and then checked them against the text I was teaching out of and had to scratch what I said out and start over. When the text and context doesn't support my point, my point has to change, not the text. Took me at least four hours to prepare for that first adult Sunday School class, ended up with a LOT of those kind of phrases crossed out. So statistics show that many people in the church today do not read or half read the Bible. God makes it clear that I'm to hide God's word in my heart that I may not sin against God. This is how many in the elect, the chosen called out ones will be lead astray in these last and evil day, by not reading, studying, applying, and being obedient to God's word. His word is how He speaks most of the time. That's why we need to eat it every day. At least two to three times a day. We feed our natural bodies daily. Most of us aren't going to miss a meal. We to make sure we take the same approach to feeding our spirit man too, eat that daily bread of God's word.

The biggest difference is one was willing to repent and get rid of the money that had been an idol, while the other was unwilling to do the same thing. I would say he knows something about the Bible, he grew up in Pentecostalism, his father was pastor, his mom was a minister, I believe what we are seeing is Ty creating his own religion based on rebellion. Ty is attempting to put the lost and saved on the same playing field by minimizing sin, probably because he grew up in a religion where holiness or hell was strongly emphasized.

I have a family member (Christian) who’s always talking about how “religious” certain Christians or Christian churches are. When I press him to explain what that means, I never get a clear answer. My impression is that he simply thinks Christians who rightly understand that God has saved us and called us to a sanctified life that desires to and must turn from sin and seek to please Him is oppressive and judgmental, and this makes him uncomfortable. I sincerely think that he may not understand the gospel, or has learned a false gospel of easy believism, where God is just there to bless his life and that he can continue in sin without consequence because it’s all “covered by the blood.”

My answer to your question is that he has read the Bible but does not understand in his spirit what is truly being said because he loves the world therefore he has no discernment. I say that as someone who went down that path and was blind, deaf and dumb and had no clue I was in a reprobate mind. If he is simply ignorant then another man or woman will be able to reach him if the Lord is guiding them. However, if he is like I was with a true reprobate mind no one but the Lord Jesus Christ and the most high God will free him. The Lord got through to me in away I never would have imagined and wouldn’t wish on anyone else but God ripped me out and laid bare how ugly I truly am. I am thankful and rejoice everyday for being found. I pray this young man is delivered by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Kdub, love your content! Are you familiar with the Wesleyan Quadrilateral? I’m not sure how you feel about it but Tye Tribett’s teaching is so dangerous because it encourages the listener to lean on their own understanding, their own subjective and fallible feelings rather than on the objective Word of God. Maybe I’m misunderstanding Hebrews 1 where it says, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.” The grass withers and the flower fades, BUT… the Word of our God shall stand forever. -Isaiah 40:8 Thanks for being a willing vessel 🙏🏾…
