I can relate to when I have a really bad crash, I get really down about it. I stop myself and remind myself that hey, this is okay, I did what I could, now I need to let my body rest and recuperate. My therapist taught me pacing techniques and to change the way I think about life and my illness. I love that you share this with us, and you make me feel less alone in my struggles. Sometimes I take ideas from you that help me with my illnesses. You are the reason I was seriously considering a walker for myself, and I was trying to justify getting one, and then I fell down the stairs in my apartment building and sprained my ankle and ripped some tendons and I could not get up. My brother had to leave work an hour early, grab my cane from the apartment so i could get up, he had to get all the groceries in from the car, and Uber me to the ER. They wrote me a prescription for a walker there. I got one the next day. I also advocate for myself a lot better now using techniques you have shared. So thank you for sharing. I love watching your videos and I always root for you and keep you in my thoughts and send positive energy your way!

Oh my gosh, how scary! I am so glad you have the walker now to keep you safe. I had similar struggles accepting the wheelchair I need until I fell at home with no one here and not even Har could help me up. So glad we are both getting the tools we need!
@cori84897 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the walker has made an amazing difference for me and allows me to last longer if I have to leave home to visit family and stuff. It also helps immensely when I am in stores too. I bet you'll feel the same when you get your custom wheelchair. I always remind myself that my walker is a tool that helps me to be more mobile. I felt really weird at first with my walker, I was afraid I was going to be accused of being a faker or whatever. But my brother, my boyfriend, and my best friends all support me in my decisions surrounding my health and that helps me. You gotta do what you gotta do!
@susano75877 жыл бұрын
WOW what a FANTASTIC idea Cori, using Uber to go to the ER! I cannot pay the copay for the ambulance ride so I always drive myself, which is REALLY dangerous, not just for me for everyone else on the road. I feel very guilty about it but have no other choice. I will try Uber next time!

Jaquie, I am humbled by you. After a lifetime of suffering i finally was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis disease, it sucks but it's also nice to know that there was really something going on, that it wasn't all in my head. The trouble is the the Dr didn't stop with just the RD, he kept rattling off disorders that I have. The following weeks and months i fell into a pretty dark depression. The meds took awhile to start helping, it felt like every side effect that went along with the meds presented in me. I thought life was essentially over. The one day I letting the autoplay run on KZbin and there you were. I binged your vlogs, and slowly started realizing that if you can be positive with your chronic list, there is no reason I can't get out of bed and have a life. So thank you.

As for medicating in a public place, it's not that big a deal. The times it irritates me are when someone does it, and just leaves the needles and other Paraphernalia lay on the table. I'm diabetic, I have to test, and sometimes I'll have to inject insulin. When done, I always wrap the stuff up in a napkin and dispose of it myself. It's so rude to see when someone medicates at a table in a restaurant and leaves the paraphernalia laying everywhere. What's even worse is when you go to the bathroom and the stuff is laying on the sink! Some people are just pigs...

I agree! I always clean up, and I use an old epipen holder as a portable sharps container until we get home.
@KentuckyRanger7 жыл бұрын
Awesome idea! I just have a fanny pack that I carry my glucose test kit and pen case. Because I might only use my pen once in a while, I find it much easier to dispose of it all while there. Some might say it's disgusting to do it that way, and I've even had people comment that I shouldn't be disposing of sharps in a public garbage can. It's an old argument that can go either way. The sharps used in a pen have 2 caps, and the test strip only contains the tiny amount of blood for testing. In my mind, wrapping it all up in several napkins and disposing of it in a garbage can is about as sterile as it gets, outside a hospital, and hospitals can be pretty gross... 😉

Wakako Tsujita As a "young" 37 person with invisible disabilities who uses handicapped parking.... Thankyou 😊
@PurdueAlum017 жыл бұрын
Yes as a 38 yr old myself with a mostly invisible illness I hesitated to park in handicapped spots at first but once a friend of mine who was driving me often started doing it for me I realized what a difference it could make. Often going into the store I would be alright and then mid way through I would start to crash and even with a walker or cart I wld start to wonder about making it back to the car intact...a real worry! So now I watch closer for how ppl look returning to their cars in spots around me. That's when u start to see the invisible stuff become visible! I spend half time in a small town where I find I can use standard parking spots with no problem I just didn't expect that big of a change when in a larger city I the other half of my time. I definitely need to use my pass with huge parking lots. It was apparent how much I needed one when it took me 25min to walk to my car in the hot sun after visiting my dad in the hospital a year ago. That was crazy! That's what u get when u build a parking lot in a corn field in the midwest...no sense in making it a garage when farms land was used.... u just pave over the fields! My doc issued a pass that next week and I also learned about their parking lot shuttle service to call! I just didn't see it as there was lots of construction that first visit. Good thing I was having a good day and managed the walk just had a big crash once I got o the car and questioned if I would be able to do it again...thank goodness some options appeared! And Dad is all better!

Jaquie, we are working in verifying a GP dx for my daughter. She had a severe (the worst the doc had every seen in a child) case of H. pylori, which went 4 years before dx'd at the age of 10. For about a year she could eat normally, so long as she was careful. Then her GI system shut down and she was hospitalized for 3 days, and things just got better, ie back to what we accepted as normal. Daily extended times of vomiting and sometimes multiple times a day, without any pattern we could find. "Everything" was tested, came back normal, so they desided she was attention seeking since I was chronically ill. So we just managed the symptoms as best we can. Because of seeing your videos, she's researched GP and has started a GP diet. In just a few weeks, she feels better than in her memory and hasn't vomited in over a week. Her bloating is down. The thing is, 3 members of my extended family has GP, but being estranged from them for over 30 years, I didn't know this until Christmas. My sister is on 24 hour feed, regular IV of ringer's and banana bags, and is all but bed bound. Thank you for being so up front about your GP, as it has her doctor finally having a direction to go. POTS and EDS may also explain some of the other issues she's battled for years.

I am a new follower. Harlow is so cute. This video made me laugh. We have two dogs of our own. I love that you take care of Harlow so well. I will continue to watch your videos. You are definitely helpful to others.

"Technically everyone vents in a public restroom".. I can relate to Jaquies lack of understanding sarcasm which cracks me up.

Great vlog, one of your best! It had plenty of adorable Harlow, nice interaction with Judd (love when he gets fed!), support for your sweet Mom and a little talk about what happened yesterday...goal vlog! Yes, please do what you gotta do when you gotta do it and likely u get just as many looks having a cutsie service dog as u do taking care of medical stuff in public! I do my stuff in public sometimes and find more looks of curiosity then anything negative. Medical stuff is interesting to so many. I don't mind ppl looking and showing interest at all! I plan to have a service dog as a long term goal and along with the usual helpful stuff i will use it as an ice breaker and confidence booster. I get used to staying home and then sometimes being out is a shocker...I think it will go better once I have a furry friend along! Keep doing what you are doing, Jaquie, good job!

Judd is still stealing your line, Jaquie and he was enjoying it. Lol! I love watching you two an Harlow, ofcourse. I can really tell that you two are a team. Not just for the physical stuff but also emotionally. I'm also glad that you're feeling a lot better and you may feel down every once in a while but Judd is righ, you have him, and harlow. Also, you have us! :)
