Mohammed Ali isn’t the greatest sportsman of the century absolutely not, he’s the greatest sportsman of all time. He didn’t just box, he represented many black men and women from many different countries. He changes history through his struggles and he changed minds and attitudes. He’s a legend a hero a role model and his name will live on, despite his death.

@MAZ7324 жыл бұрын
I’m not disputing what he achieved in his career but he’s not the greatest boxer of all time, that’s a fact. He is without doubt the no1 as a sportsman. Ali was racist and he often made racist comments about white people, blaming all whites for black peoples struggles. Africa was given back to black people and what did they do, well nothing really, just let it fall apart, corrupt leaders exploited their own people, causing internal wars, fractions and famine. Now they beg ‘ white nations’ for hand outs, while still criticising whites for stuff that happened 100’s of years ago. You don’t see Jewish communities crying every 5 mins about what happened to them. No! They picked themselves up after mourning their dead, started again and look at them today! Much respect for them that rise up to tyranny and exploitation and prove their worth instead of whining about history.

Mazz, the man made a statement and that was his attitude at the time. He was a legend. He will never be forgotten. He had a unique personality, generous, showed class and speed with a style like no one else. A poet. Y Yes, he had his flaws about white people but he mellowed. I get your point some people have a victim complex about their color like Megan Markle. But Ali was round the time racism was massive towards black people, and he was a role model for black men back then. Now a days it exists but not so much, its a minority. Some black people are racist, some whites. Either way racism is wrong.

Never has one man, brought such Controversy and Skill, to a Square piece of canvas, to so many.. Despised and hated by some; Loved and embraced by others. 33:30 Whenever I've heard Liston speak, he hasn't come across at all like the brutal thug that he was perceived to be. He always seemed quite shy, almost gentle.
@manaharav4 жыл бұрын
He loved little children. I believe he was the son of a desperately poor sharecropper and had to struggle for everything throughout his early life. Due to the time and circumstances of living in America, his main experience as far as what life offered him was hatred for the color of his skin, brutal apartheid like policing, and violence and distrust of his fellow man. I believe deep down he had kindness in him, but in the volatile 1960's he never had the support system to help him thrive as a coloured man, like Sammy Davis Jr. Because he died under mysterious circumstances, in the shadow of the greatest decade, (Ali,Foreman, Frazier, Norton and Holmes, later Tyson) he has slipped into undeserved obscurity. Before the Internet, it was easy for society to look at fighters as disposable meat.

This is one of the rare documentaries where Liston explains why he didn't get up after he was knocked down by the "Phantom punch"- in their second fight. Forget about all of the barbershop conspiracy theories about Muslims, the Mob- and a "fix". Liston got hit with a short right hand- and went down. He said that he could have gotten up- but Ali was running all around him- and he was leery that Ali might try and take a cheap shot at him while he was still on the canvas. That's it in a nutshell! Excellent documentary.

It was impossible not to love Ali. Half of Europe stood up in the middle of the night just to watch his fights. But it wasn´t just about Ali. It was the time of a young generation: JFK, Ali, the Beatles - it was a strong wind of a new generation that blew the old, worn out generation into the past where they belonged. It reminds me of today where old politicians like Trump and the GOP try to dominate politics with their old programs and strategies. Time to wake up, young folks.
