Muhhhamad then said:"The toughest man to fight will be the man with highest KO ratio the fella with no style just a bull Rocky Marciano and I don't think that I could beat him" Legend shows mutual respect to another legend They becomed friends few months before Rocky's death They sparred for 75 minutes for computer fight and than Ali said: "I trully think that he's better than Joe Frazier and you folk know what Joe did to me" When he said that he was better he mean in punching power,chin,stamina and used both hand unlike Frazier After 15 rnds Ali said he's the only man who almost broke both of my hands and cracked few ribbs He just keep commin like Ali said Rocky had the best stamina and he was best conditioned fighter(he runned 20 miles every morning) Tyson only runned for 4 miles every day but Rock did 20 When Ali's trainer Angelo Dundee asked Rocky:Well Rock how do you like my kid??? Rocky who was old and died few months 46 years old said:He's really,really good,he's the fastest man on the wheels but in my prime I would kill him

No fighter in history can match Ali for ring IQ. Frasier is one of the very few who matched him for heart. The gorilla thing was Ali's lowest moment. I'm not sure Frasier ever quite forgave him for that, and I think it's something Ali came to look back on, rightly, with regret.

I truly believe this one fight (and the three against Frazier specifically) were the cause of much of Ali's brain trauma later in life. He took so many hard head shots in this fight, and in every fight against Frazier. When you're feeling like you want to fall asleep between rounds in this high-adrenaline environment something is not right in the brain. Watch some Frazier footage and see how many large men went down after just a couple of those shots that Ali took for 14 rounds. RIP, champ(s).

Could be a part he learnt from Pro Wrestling. Not about being fake, but about selling your opponent. How to become bigger than life character. He put over Frazier in their first match, even when Frazier was a dear friend to him Ali mocked him like a true Heel and lost. That did create buzz, that did made Frazier top dog, and they did had 3 matches which were selling out seats left and right. Ali controversial figure, one of the greatest boxers to ever live. One of the greatest entertainers that ever lived in a combat sport. I man that was a huge pro wrestling fan, and that culture is always being overlooked because there is a monopoly on it with the cheap imitation of wwe.

You're not kidding. When you're in your mid-20's it's easier to bounce back from these kind of fights even though the damage still is accumulating, but by the time you reach your mid-30's you're already past your physical prime and won't ever fully recover from the damage taken in fights of this intensity. Guaranteed, there were many days that each of these men went through for the rest of their lives where they were reminded of the damage that they took in this fight.

I watched this fight on tape and it clearly could have gone either way. There were even rumors that Ali told Dundee to take off his gloves as he no longer wanted to continue going into the 15th. It was also then rumored that Futch was just first to stop the fight for his boxer. Whether these rumors be true or not, it just shows how deadly that battle was. And then we have a mall here in Manila named after Ali (Ali Mall), that could have been Frazier Mall instead in another life. Legendary indeed.

This clip didn't mention that Joe had a blind eye previously from a detached retina. In this fight his good eye was shut from lid swelling. When his manager told him, after the 14th, that he was virtually blind and had to quit, Joe said: "I don't have to see him, I can sense him". His manager threw the white towel in to end it. These two were warriors. Unfortunately they left there health out there from the many punches sustained over years of boxing.

I’ve watched this memorable fight a number of times, but this is the first that I’ve noticed just how frequently Frazier punched Ali below the belt and received no warnings. Especially in the 9th and 10th rounds - you can’t miss it. Those are low blows, yet the ref either didn’t see them from his vantage point or didn’t feel them “low enough”. I love your channel, btw, and appreciate all the time and effort you put in to these peerless breakdowns of classic fights.

I felt like I was with these 2 champions in the ring, and was worrying what would happen next, even though I had already seen this fight more than 10 times. Your narration was so passionate, music so perfectly matched, and all of these facts, which I had never known before. I always loved Thrilla, but only after watching this video I realised what it really was, and how much these men suffered. Honestly I don't think you can beat the quality of this video. It is not even a masterpiece, just something more. I just wanted to thank you for this video, because you really made me feel special, and honored that I am your subscriber. @@edwardahmed1769 Look I really respect Ali as a fighter even though i strongly disagree with his treatment of Frazier such as calling him an Unlce Tom when in fact Frazier came up from the gutters and rose to become a World Champion through perseverance and hard work, Frazier really was the real black hero and always will be in my eyes. Ali wanted equality for the black folk yet he threw Frazier under the bus whenever he got the chance, always having digs at him and making derogatory remarks; why do people always put this ugly side of Ali under the rug? For you to call Fraizer bitter and delusional shows what an ignoramus you really are. Ali may have been superior compared to most of his opponents but you are utterly delusional to think that he is "far superior" compared to Fraizer; Frazier would fight him every day of the week and twice on a sunday! The man had guts that we have never seen since. Why do you think Ali said it was the closest he felt to dying? Has any other boxer pushed Ali to the limit? Nah mate, it was just Joe Frazier with his one blind eye that took Ali to the limit. And you can hardly call Ali's 1-0 record against Foreman as "superior" thats just a silly statement to make for a record that stands at 1-0. Joe Frazier never gave up he wanted to continue, you need to watch the documentary, it was Futch who threw in the towel. I'm not saying Dundee is a liar or anything like that afterall I wasnt there but someone did hear Ali say "cut em off" plus if you look at the fight does Ali look like he wanted to continue? be honest. PS. I'm a Muslim!
@edwardahmed1769
@edwardahmed1769 3 жыл бұрын
@@jimmynext5375 first, I don't believe you are a Muslim, but let's leave that point to one side. If you knew anything about Frazier you would know he was a detestably bitter man and that's a documented fact. He was so disgustingly bitter that he even took pleasure in Ali's debilitating health problems and bragged about how he caused Ali to develop Parkinson's disease. Nothing Ali did could compare that. All Ali did was trash talk, largely to promote fights - fighters do this all the time, it's part of the game - you need to get your perspective right. Ali's boxing record is miles better than Frazier's. That's why when people talk about who is the greatest of all time, Frazier does not enter the conversation. Everyone knows there probably has never been a fighter with more heart than Ali. He beat Foreman when no one gave him a chance and when he was past his peak. FRAZIER GOT HIS ASS KICKED BY FOREMAN REPEATEDLY. ALI BEAT FRAZIER TWICE. ALI HAS A MUCH BETTER WIN RECORD. ALI FOUGHT WAY MORE FIGHTS THAN FRAZIER. Only you, the delusional Frazier fanboy, thinks Frazier is Ali's equal - ever think that maybe that means something? That maybe you're a delusional crank that knows nothing about boxing?. As for whether Frazier was his equal, there's just no debate - he didn't come close to Ali. Regarding whether Frazier had more heart, no debate there either- Ali had way more heart. Also, if frazier had more heart, why did he have so many fewer fights then Ali? Why didn't he have the heart to carry on, like Ali did? Don't give up your day job bud.

He wore off Joe to the limit and he won without a doubt. But he acknowledged his greatest rival of all times. Thank you champ for the great lesson of resilience consistency and total class.

Sorry Bobby, I’m not writing this reply to prove you wrong or to be an ass. For this fight Ali “did” take it for granted and although he was in good shape he wasn’t in the best shape possible. I got this information from Angelo Dundee’s book “My view from the corner”. Dundee says that Ali was convinced Frazier was washed up, finished by 1975 & every time Angelo tried to tell Ali that he should take the fight more seriously Ali dismissed his opinion. Ali admitted after the fight that he had underestimated Frazier’s ability to still fight at the level he did.

Joe could have won that fight. That last round was his, just look at Ali after he stood up. Joe very well could have lost on points, but then again that last round could have changed the outcome. Joe still had more in the tank, he just didn't have all his senses available to him. Ali most likely would have stayed against the ropes and delivered quick jabs every so often. Frazier would have controlled himself, saved up energy and looked for his Left Hook, one last time. Whether he could have landed it squarely, we will never know. Joe beating Ali in this last fight, very well could have changed the idea of "The Greatest" (Not saying it would have been Frazier, but there would have been more of an argument for someone else). The downside of them going into the lost round very well could have killed one of them. The way history played out is most likely the way it should have been.

Bobby Gi Before the ban, Ali's footwork and handspeed made him untouchable. When he returned, he'd lost the otherworldly footwork. But he showed that he also had superhuman heart, determination and courage. In Frazier, he met his equal in all three of those areas. Completely different fighting styles. Very different personalities. But linked forever, because on the inside there've been no greater warriors in the history of the toughest sport.

I just laugh when someone like mayweather says he’s the greatest of all time , it’s plain stupid if u ask me . Mayweather wouldn’t even face prime pacquiao when Pacquiao was unstoppable, how can he say he’s the greatest . Imagine if Ali and smoking joes fought at today’s day and age , at arenas with air conditioning, better preparation , they would be unstoppable and could probably go 30 rounds if not more easily . Today’s boxers can’t even go 15 rounds no more , some not even 12 rounds , that’s how weak boxers are today ! They just don’t make em like this anymore and never will . ALI IS AND WILL BE THE GREATEST EVER !

Like why not rematch Pacquiao ??? Manny was past his prime , plus he was hurt ! Not an excuse but the truth. Why not give Canelo rematch ?? My nominee for GREATEST FIGHT of all times. The Rumble was perhaps more dramatic and had that astounding emotional release, but the Thrilla is The Odyssey to martial arts. I saw this live closed circuit as a teen, and when Joe's mouthpiece flew out I believe in the 12th, the entire crowd leapt to its feet, the roar was deafening. They were titans going beyond human limits... and I miss them; this fight is forever ingrained into me. It is one of a kind, the rarest gem and there is nothing else above it.

Frazier coach told him before he threw in the towel (against the fearless warrior decision), “No one will forget what you did here today”, is a understatement. I was thinking, watching this fight for the first time today, “people give Ali praise for being the goat (and it true) and not really talk as much about his opponents, namely Joe Frazier, but DAMN! Joe Frazier must’ve been a damn angel, more than a man. Couldn’t no other man on earth did what he did that night against Ali”.
