my big parahybana learned how to open the terrarium doors from inside, the terrarium doors are the sliding types, what i see her do is pry it slightly open with her fangs and than try to push her legs into the gap to open it, i was amazed how she actively tried to escape and developed a method to do so

This was an enjoyable video. Glad you found Elvira, she is one of my favorites. Reflecting back, I want to say that your channel has become everything I hoped for and more since you started in your apartment. I was there when you started, before you started speaking English in your videos to reach a bigger audience. It has been a crazy ride, from when you started, to your video explaining that you didn't feel right making a patreon, but then we told you "No, we WANT to support you." Then, you started your patreon, and proceeded to quit your job, buy a car, rent a location for the Dark Den, get married, have a kid on the way (still can't wait to meet your daughter when she arrives!) and now, you work out of your own basement, and deliver content that is deserving of so much more than we give you. On a personal level, you've awoken a fascination with arachnids in me, and spawned a hobby that has now infected my 8 year old daughter, who now owns 3 tarantulas of her own. I cannot express with words how much you have done for your audience. And through it all, you've never lost that personal connection to your viewers. You never sold out and started doing sponsored ads, and knowing how much money they are worth, that is commendable. When I open your new video, I know it won't be interrupted by you stopping to tell us about "today's sponsor." You deliver nothing but your personality and knowledge with your content. I hope one day, I have the financial freedom to visit Croatia, shake your hand, and thank you personally for your contribution that has enriched my life, my daughter's life, and the lives of so many others. When I get to Croatia, I owe you a beer.

I just wanted to let you know that 5ish years ago I never would have considered tarantulas cool or interesting or anything but terrifying... I got my first T in 2019 after I started watching your videos in like 2018. I now have 5 tarantulas and they are all very special to me and you are the one to credit for that! Thank you so much Petko, although my wallet might not thank you as much ahah. If you are interested, I started out with avic avic (2019), then got a seemani (2020), and then in 2021 got p irminia, y diversipes and p regalis.... All of my t's have Zelda-inspired names except the pokie - she DID have a Zelda name but after being my first T to escape her name is now Bolt since she went bolty bolty right into my couch haha. anyways thank you so much, I love your videos and you are awesome keep it up!

Your fantastic. Your helping me overcome my arachnophobia issues. I moved to Dominican Republic and there is spiders everywhere. Watching you and learning about how to handle them without smashing them with a 7 foot stick with a flip flop taped to the end AKA = THE THE SPIDER STICK . I'm starting to get braver when I encounter them now . I have recently replaced the flip flop with a large cut gallon jug to scoop them into for relocating them over the neighbors wall.

I do have to say, your Huntsmans are quite nice. We in the US don't get to see many of them, especially at this size and nobody I know keeps them. This is very cool to see huntsmans life cycles because this was one of the first arachnids I was seriously interested in. They're voracious eaters, FAAAAAST, masters of camouflage, etc. Really, perfectly suited for their environment.

I had to ask my dad for help getting her down as I'm a Short - he thought I just needed help with a normal spider & was teasing me about it until he saw how big she was! Funniest part is that she was a Tliltocatl albopilosus juvenile, so I wouldn't have expected her to go up, but...

In the 7 years I used to keep Ts, I’d only had one escapee- an adult male P Regalis, IN MY BEDROOM! After 2 days, I found him in the 2 inch gap between my door frame and the wall. When I went to capture him to put him home, he was actually quite relaxed and went into the container with minimal coaxing. I still collapsed in relief when I got him securely home.

You could put the magnet more near the top of the Enclosure, because then there is no lever action. Right now if the Tarantula pushes on the door at the top, there is quite a lever so she needs way less force to open that enclosure. This could improve your magnet efficiency.

Some of the shelves are bending a little at the 1:18 minute mark, I think. Also, someone in the comments suggested adding a magnet to the other side of the enclosures, so that the tarantulas can't push on the non-magnet side. Seems like a good idea, although giving these tarantulas a new enclosure sounds fine as well. This video gave me a lot of anxiety, heh, but I'm glad everything worked out fine in the end.

This species, like the rest of the Poecilotheria spiders , is beautifully colored. Yellow ornaments are visible on the underside of the spider's limbs, and black to gray colors predominate on the top, with a zigzag ornament with white outlines on the abdomen. This spider grows up to 6-8 cm of body and up to 25 cm with legs, it is considered the largest representative of the genus Poecilotheria . Sexual dimorphism becomes apparent around 6-7 moults.

A very fast and beautiful hunsman spider from the Indonesian island of Flores. This species is often mistaken for and sold as H. dagmarae. The sexes can already be distinguished in juvenile age. While the females have a simple, velvety and brownish carapace and opistosoma, the males are rather dark in color and show a clear contrast in the pattern. They prefer a warmer and humid environment.
