I promise u Zakk would praise Kirk seems Kirk is the one who made wah actually sound good seems Maiden and priests attempts were shit. But again this solo is just terrifying Zakk is built different not even Zakk would expect sounds like this from Kirk with no whammy bar 😭😭 let alone the speed and tightness lol. His high gain, super wet, wah driven tone falsely insinuates that the high gain i s assisting in his runs sounding cleaner than they are.. that he really is just wildly tremolo picking and the gain covers up mistakes (I've seen these comments about Zakk a 100 times) COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG.. SUPER accurate alternate picking here.. crazy.. if his tone was dressed down the same articulation would be there.. he was just absolutely flying on some of those runs. Super clean. Love it, thanks Levi

My guitar teacher told me that I have a ‘vicious’ attack with my right hand and don’t pick in small measures 😂 He did say that’s just my fingerprint as a player but guys like Zakk and watching his technique tells me that the way I pick is not incorrect 👌🏼🤘🏼

The ultimate goal is to be equally proficient in both techniques and be able to fluidly shift from one to the other and everything in between. I pretty much got the light touch down, and I'm working towards achieving the same level of control when picking aggressively. I like Gary Moore's style of aggressive picking. I liken it to speed bagging, but on a guitar.

Bro my first guitar teacher pushed the same stuff on me. "You pick too aggressively". Fast forward ten years to my first time in the studio: Producer was giving my other guitar player shit for "playing without any balls behind it". "Pick more like him!" (referring to me) Looks like that first guitar teacher was an idiot.

I met Zakk at NAMM in the mid 90's and he was this skinny shy type of guy, then I saw him about 10 years later at NAMM again and he was this huge burly biker guy with all leather and chains hanging off of him. Just barrelling through the crowd, shoulder bumping anyone that didn't move out of his way. 😅 I know that has nothing to do with his playing but the difference he changed in those 10 years is something I remember ever so often and get a chuckle out of.

I doubt he was shoulder bumping people to move out of his way. First, i don't think he is a rude guy and second, people that do that get their ass kicked like there is no tomorrow. Going around like you are a tough guy usually brings you to people tougher than you and things don't go very well.

I have seen Zack with Ozzy. I have seen him when he was on tour for his first solo album at a very small bar in Savannah Georgia I got to meet him there and hang out.. And I have seen him with BLS. Great shows every time

Zak is a master of his craft. Love the dirty & bluesy undertones of his unmistakably metal/shred style. Love the pinched harmonics he throws in too(not in this particular clip). He uses them quite a bit and they are awesome.

In an interview he said many times, if i play like this people call me yngwie and if i play like this they say im a copy of X, so he went down a path that not many at that time were doing, which was pentatonics and chicken picking, and thats why, surprisingly, he stood out. I just like his music, i really dont care if people think hes the best or not lol.

Great technique but not great sense of melody or phrasing. Music is not a race. He knows 3 scales and does every time the same. Don't care if he picks every single note. Jake E. Lee was light years ahead.

Me and the wife went to see Les Paul in the Iridium years ago. Couldn’t believe it, Satriani was on stage tuning before the set, Eric Johnson walked by as I sat down and then Zakk got pissed as a fart shouting obscenities at satriani while he was on stage with Les Paul. Very strange experience.
