His high gain, super wet, wah driven tone falsely insinuates that the high gain i s assisting in his runs sounding cleaner than they are.. that he really is just wildly tremolo picking and the gain covers up mistakes (I've seen these comments about Zakk a 100 times) COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG.. SUPER accurate alternate picking here.. crazy.. if his tone was dressed down the same articulation would be there.. he was just absolutely flying on some of those runs. Super clean. The ultimate goal is to be equally proficient in both techniques and be able to fluidly shift from one to the other and everything in between. I pretty much got the light touch down, and I'm working towards achieving the same level of control when picking aggressively. I like Gary Moore's style of aggressive picking. I liken it to speed bagging, but on a guitar.

I met Zakk at NAMM in the mid 90's and he was this skinny shy type of guy, then I saw him about 10 years later at NAMM again and he was this huge burly biker guy with all leather and chains hanging off of him. Just barrelling through the crowd, shoulder bumping anyone that didn't move out of his way. 😅 I know that has nothing to do with his playing but the difference he changed in those 10 years is something I remember ever so often and get a chuckle out of.

Love his aggressive picking and Zakk's is the BEST Pentatonic Wanker there is. Also love the country chicken picking he employs on the licks as well as the use of the wah pedal 👍 Just a bit of story: Seen him in Generation Axe (Vai, Yngwie, Nuno, Zakk and Tosin) there are duo performances, Zakk and Nuno played a song titled "Outside" (not sure) and he employed the same techniques and aggressiveness above like what Levi transcribed and he practically destroyed Nuno (in a nice way) on their duo performance by doing those incessant barrage of notes haha. Nuno is just shaking his head (i don't know if it's disbelief or disappointment). haha.😈😂 Then there was a part of the show were Zakk and Yngwie played "Little Wing" as duo, and Yngwie returned the favor on Zakk by dominating him with a barrage of furious Neo-Classical lines and chops.🔥Yngwie practically unleashed the fooking Fury on Him.😂Just love it when guitarists indirectly shred off each other on stage😆, not only you were treated with a great show and sonic eargasm but also like watching a sports MMA or boxing match where guitar wizards duel each other but instead of fists, they use the guitar as a weapon.😁Zakk is really a cool guy coz he just smiled in delight and they hug each other after the jam. One of the best Guitar show I've seen!🤘
