The emotional work has been so important to my journey (still in progress) and as new current emotional stressors are introduced, I HAVE to address them and or the pain increases I appreciate how you addressed the potential symptom increase if you have a subconscious fear of what you are going towards. I have had to use rigorous self honesty and journaling to uncover these subconscious fears related to the ramifications of success in healing…. Scary but worth it and still walking the path with faith, hope, self-compassion and dedication

Jen, thank you for this wonderful episode. Have you ever read the book The Body Keeps Score? I was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and I believe it is because my body has held onto childhood trauma. The book suggests that the body will exhibit physical illness (pain, autoimmune, etc) when an unprocessed trauma is at hand. I am very familiar with neuroplastic pain but I had no idea that autoimmune might be caused by underlying emotional issues as well. I very much enjoy your podcasts and I thank you for continuing to make them.

I have read that book - It was very eye opening! Autoimmune disease is a very interesting case - I have my suspicions for sure. I do believe reducing fear of symptoms and pain processing therapy can help with autoimmune but maybe not reverse some of its impacts. I know several MB coaches who have overcome their autoimmune symptoms!

Yes. Journaling primarily, simply feeling my feelings, and working with a counselor.
