@@kiro253 might be on sea ice. I set mine up so winter can go down to about -300 F at the worst. Had one spawn in the corner away from my base, had to leave it there till summer.

@@YouViolatedTheNAP My ideal settings set "cold snap" to happen every 24 hours and since it lasts some random time, you may RARELY get 1 cold snap at a time, or up to 4, with it normally staying at 3. combined with the coldest location you can find and it gives you a vary short window to get 4 walls up and get enough materials from the immediate area to allow you to stay warm. in my last run which was several years, i only had one summer warm enough to spawn animals, the amount of meat i had was insane, randy was kind enough dump a bunch of animals on me, even a massive pack of manhunter arctic foxs :D

You should get the ‘Bad People’ mod That mod can make everyone get the depraved trait, which pretty much means they turn into a psychopath with you doing enough bad stuff to other people. As well as them being able to become cannibals if they eat enough human meat

Because it looks like you're about to end it, I have an idea for new series: you might be some kind of drug dealer and make profit from it. Remember: you can heal every addiction (except luciferium, where colonist dies) but it will be long way for him, he will mental break every single time but will be better than with addictions.

I had a colony mass producing drugs until my drug lord Pablo Yayobar took an insane amount of drugs himself and the whole colony was on drugs and insanely efficient... then one of them went berserk and everybody shot each other and died while being raided

Keep in mind that when you create your ship it wont start right away but it needs 15 days or something to charge up before it can actually fly, in that time people will constantly raid you (i think mechanoids will also attack you) so you need to prepare your defence before that otherwise your will get overrunned rather easily.

A general tip i would give is, that when mining for resources in mountains, its best to do strip mining. That means doing 2-wide tunnels with 2-wide rock in between. saves a lot of time and does not need supports. Another thing is about meals. An easy thing to do without overcomplicating things is just to put fine meals on forever or whatever limit you want before normals meals. Fine meals take the same amount of food as simple ones but want the 50-50 split of meat and vegetables. It is just free mood. Doing simple meals all the time will result in some meals using meat and veg, but not being a fine meal.

I commented this on the last video but I don't know if you saw it or not so: One idea for a challenge is to have a colony of people that are incapable of violence. There are a lot of problems from this such as having to rely on farming for food, having to rely on traps, turrets and animals for defending yourself and you also won't be able to knock out people who have mental breaks (I don't know if a person who is incapable of violence can harm people during a mental break but I imagine they can). You also have a bit of an advantage since you don't need to train your colonists in melee or firearms which gives you a lot more time to learn other skills. The series has been fun so far but it seems that it's gonna end soon so I think that this could be an interesting challenge.

easy way to deal with ships is to "drop" explosive ammo around the ship, make someone pick up some of it, go 1-2 tile away from the ship, drop only one and forbid it, then move to 2 tile away and drop another one (cant be adjecent from the previous tile cz it'll stack), scatter this 1 - 2 tile away from the ship, then make someone shoot the ship from the distance, then use another one to shoot the explosive (s), it'll make a chain reaction of explosive that will take care of the mech. you can also put a turret down in range of the mech so they will try to shoot it first before they start to move you can also make a trail of explosive so you can shoot it easier

Before you start the ship wall the whole area off with multiple layers of walls. You will be attacked and the swarm. Will be triggered. Hopefully the swarm will kill all other attackers, but you need to make it hard for them to reach you.

AA, for your next playthrough do a "undead city" where you start out in an abandoned city and you have 1 life and 1 survivor to do it. Your goal is to build the ship and protect yourself from the maximum number of zombies your PC will allow at one time. Zombie settings are to be at maximum and the only thing they cant do is break walls. but their senses are on ultra (or the highest) and every day it gets harder and harder to venture outside so you must rely on other traders to survive and get the materials you need :D

Caught up in 1 day, I honestly love watching these type of scenarios where people do evil runs, cause who likes hero's anymore? Also For another series I was thinking something along the lines of a pirate group, haven't seen too many people try to become pirates playing this game. That, or a colony full of idiots with only 1 really good person with high stats and capability to do alot of the smart tasks. (Like Dimitry only surrounded by useless people only good for menial labor, mining and building....maybe cooking cause it'd seem a stretch to have 1 person do literally everything necessary for survival)

mounitain is no problem with a fridge. Infestations need a temperatur of I think 20°C to spawn. 20°C or 25. So they won´t spawn in your fridge. well there is a chance on a solar flare, true but that´s not a too big risk IMHO

OR make a next run a nomadic raider theme, taking over other colonies and moving on after taking their people / resources :D Basically, try building a raider horde or at least a raider focused base ^.^

I don't think you should continue the mace strat against mechanoids. It might be good against lancers, but in the end, you are just placing your colonist out of cover: during bigger mech raids, it is a very bad idea. And scyters won't give a dam about your maces. A better strat is to overwhelm them with firepower, and charge weapons also work well (high armor penetration) With ships chunks, you can place he IED closer to them, 2-3 tiles is as close as you can get. You could also drop maces rigth next to cover, or in shelves outside
