I love your philosophy about the journey and not the result.. Every night I sit in front of my 17 pedal Ambient Pedalboard with headphones on and get lost in discovery as you are doing now.. Sometimes it's not perfect,in fact most times..but I don't care,I'm getting huge joy just creating Octave/Reverse/Glitch/Pad Stereo Soundscapes...

@@Andreas_tropicalwinterLove this video. Have you ever read “The Journey is the Destination” by Dan Eldon? Lotta words incoming… “By the time he was twenty-two, Dan Eldon had led a relief mission across Africa; worked as a graphic designer in New York; studied (intermittently) at four colleges; travelled through Europe, Africa, Japan, and the United States; founded a charity for Mozambiquan refugees; directed a film; written a book; started up his own photography business; and become a photojournalist for Reuters news agency, covering the famine and civil war in Somalia. There, in 1993, he was killed in an eruption of mob violence while on assignment. In a world of rules and regularity, Eldon was a renegade, a risk-taker, and an adventurer. His is no ordinary journal; it is an astonishing collage of photos, drawings, words, maps, and clippings that reveals his strange and vivid life. The Journey is the Destination is at once the vision of an artist in his prime and the unrestrained outpourings of a young man just beginning to live.”

Had a music teacher back in the day when I got into writing/recording music who knew I wanted to release stuff and who not only told me what’s stated above (‘it’s about the process’) but he also said: if your outcome (the recording of a song) doesn’t *sound* as good as the process *feels* when your in it, take a step back and reframe. Great dude and sound advice I think. You can feel great while making something and the finished result can be, upon playback, not nearly as good as it felt making it. the best stuff I’ve made has either been when a marriage of the two exists inherently and simultaneously (*instances when I felt great about something I’ve made while making it AnD been able to hear it back and have my initial feeling confirmed by the recordings sound as good as I remembered*) or when I was able to take something which didn’t feel the same listening back and re work it into something that sounded as good as it felt to initially come up with the idea (even if the finished result ended up being completely different than the moments that inspired it).
@Andreas_tropicalwinter
@Andreas_tropicalwinter 3 ай бұрын
@@RBGRBGRBGRBG Tahnks! I like the idea of the Song sounding as good as it felt recording it!!! I think the state of mind does have such a big impact on the outcome. Sometimes I record things I don't fully understand and after listening to it a day later everything starts to make sense. Sometimes I'm happy with that, sometimes it becomes a good base to work with.
@RBGRBGRBGRBG
@RBGRBGRBGRBG 3 ай бұрын
@@Andreas_tropicalwinter for sure, yea and it’s funny it sounds so simple but it wasn’t easy for me to put into practice initially. And to be fair, it’s an idea that’s really only ever actually necessary to put into action (imho) when your both looking for something specific *and* when that idea of the thing and the reality of it are at odds. That said, Music and creation are so subjective that this ethic doesn’t necessarily even have to matter for someone who isn’t looking for an intended result. it seems clear you’re (admirably) purely in flow with no expectation of result here. (I could be wrong though it’s meant as a compliment). And if *all I ever created* was done in this way, the mentality I described might not have as much bearing but it works for me when working on songs (w/ lyrics, structure meant to be repeated etc). This is an amazing session though and it reminds me how important it is to let loose and get into flow for flow’s sake. (Something one can forget when in the throes of recording).

(Or..maybe I could put up an email on my About tab, here on YT, and you'd contact me?) As for the Talman...well.. I'm a sucker for Tone..single coils..and tone options, so I'd mod the PUp combination options, and the tone circuitry, to begin with. But this is a long conversation...hehehe. I currently own 6 low budget guitars, with the exception of a Japan made Ibanez 7stg. RG . And I've been slowly Modding ALL of them. But the Talman has been my Fav for a long long time, so I want to get my hands on one. Or , preferably, have one custom made for me, with 'my specs' . I've been trying out different string gauges too, and a few different tunings. I'm not a guitarist. I can play the guitar. (I studied percussion, so I'm more of a Mallet Perc guy) . But I really want to get some chops on the instrument. And going the long instrumental pieces route, has been my goal for a long time. A couple of months ago, I decided to really dive into it. And I really like your aesthetics 😉

where is the compressor in your signal and why did you choose that position?
@Andreas_tropicalwinter
@Andreas_tropicalwinter 3 ай бұрын
@@lcglazer You can take a look into the description. I have the whole signal listed there. As you can see, it's Limelight, Special Cranker, Mood, Fable and then Squish As. Since my Overdrives are pretty good reacting to my playing dynamics, Squish As follows after. When I would put the Compressor in front of my drives, I would kill the dynamics beforehand. That's the reason I like to even out the level after my drive section. Mood and Fable are also before my Compressor. Both can be used for a bed of Reverb and in case of Mood as a Looper. It's nice to get a more even leveling out of those layers using Squish As after, right before everthing hits the DD500. Further questions are welcome!
