I agree as well. Jim Rome was a sports shock jock trying to make a name for himself. If he had thanked Everett for coming on his show, and said "I respect you for coming on my show, and I'm done wirh the snarky comments", he would have looked like a man. Everett likely would have buried the hatchet. Instead Rome looked like the mouthy schoolboy that opened his mouth once too often. It's a disgusting way to gain notoriety in my book.

The stats behind the story........Jim says he's been calling Everett Chris for 2 years, but this happened in spring 1994 and 1992 was actually one of Everett's best seasons statistically as a Ram.....59.2% completion rate, 22 TDs and 18 picks. He only had 1 season with a higher completion rate as a Ram (59.6%).......the next season was bad 1993, but he may have been hurt. Only started 9 games..............then AFTER this fight, Jim Everett tore it up for the Saints, passing for 64.7% completion rate and 3,855 yards that fall.

I’m a house painter and I listen to sports radio all day long. When Jim Rome comes on I change the channel. I can’t stand the guy!!!! His inflated ego is out of the stratosphere!! I remember this like it was yesterday, and it was pretty shocking at the time, this was the early internet/cable days and shock radio had not really hit sports yet. This was way before shows like First Take and Undisputed, Jim Rome was somewhat of a trailblazer in that regard. Jim Rome was not well-known at the time, and it's obvious he pulled this stunt to get his name out there.
