In this video I take a look into the backstory behind a famous clip that I've seen multiple times and wondered about. I look into why a seemingly innocent interview with a football player in 1994 turned slightly violent after the host called his guest "Chris" several times.

The fact is that he was deliberately trying to insult Everett on national television and even when he said he didnt like it, the interviewer kept picking trying to be a smart guy. I wouldnt let someone deliberately insult me to my face and i dont think most other people would either so good for him for sticking up for himself.

Thank you for doing this clip. I used to listen to Jim Rome as a kid growing up in the early 2000's. I remember I created a KZbin channel back in 2007 to post a comment on this video when I was 12 years old. As for the story of the clip, you got it all correct; I was mentally fact checking as you went through what happened. thank you for bringing this story to another audience who might not be sports fans. I was not expecting you to cover it, seriously you are going places with your content.

There was nor is anything ethically wrong with making comparisons about people as long as the criteria being compared remain constant (as part of an equation, for example). However, Rome was CLEARLY passive aggressively instigating Everett for his relatively poor playoff performances. I also had the thought that Rome needed a rating boost/increase to justify the continuation of the show. I has the sense that the intention was to garner a ratings increase with his instigation stunt. Thoughts? Hope to hear back.

You needed to point out Jim Rome loved to get under people skin. This is who he was and is. If he didn't like something about you. You could tell because he didn't hide it. He knows he's a jerk. Jim Everett wasn't a great QB. We are talking about the 80s and 90s. When you called a man a women. That was one of the worse insults you can say to him. Jim Rome knew exactly what he was doing. And to the people who going to say women are equal to men. Yes they are. But in certain areas you can't compare them as equal. One is being in professional football. There things that men are just better at than women. And then, There things men can't handle what a women can. Like giving birth. The pain a mother has to go through giving birth. Think this video didn't have the best title if I'm being honest. I didn't click the last few times I saw it A. Becuase not kitchen nightmares (which I now don't mind becuase this video was great.) B. The title made no sense and I didn't recognize the people in the thumbnail being Scottish and just conceived when it happened. Your needing something like 'A Tale of 2 Jim's | Rome/Everett Revisited' Never call this NFL player Chris | Rome/Everett Revisited' Just ideas, but your current title doesn't POP!
