@@nikolagugoski Darn, I'd typed a whole thing out and it got erased! I guess I was just thanking you again for making this video and thanking all the people here for the kind words about this song. I really like this song. I think AK's words are beautiful. I've only replied to a few things on KZbin before. It's because I'm on tour and NOT going out because Covid is still everywhere. I never ever used to read the internet at all but nowadays, KZbin comments are hard to turn away from. I suppose I always want people to perhaps look at things a little bit more before they opine negatively. I saw someone say something like the rest of this song is "basic" or "uninteresting." I wonder what it's supposed to be? And for whom? I'll tell ya...the verse of this song comes from two chords being buried in my mind for years and years. It's a tiny moment in Gift, the film by Perry Farrell & Casey Niccoli. I saw that when I was really young, before I even played guitar. The simple beauty of those two chords (this piece is in a different key) and the images that accompanied them...was something I thought of all the time when I was 16 and first driving into Hollywood. I thought a lot about Jane's Addiction, Fishbone, Thelonious Monster, and of course, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. There is a particular smell (I'm sure with minimal effort, I could discover and name) that'll forever remind me of my youth, of driving, of Hollywood, of dreaming of playing music with people I admire. I was able, with lots of good luck, to write something that turned all of those innocent childhood feelings into a song with some of the people who inspired those feelings to begin with. Forgive me that the verses aren't as interesting as the intro.

Definitely. Better production and mixing, but also much stronger songwriting. UL falls into a trap of being made up by a lot of “interesting jams”, which was also a bit true of IWY. Getaway is an amazing album. So happy it’s getting recognised now, though it will always be underrated
