1:39 A year later, and you can understand why Kobo and Altare get along soo well. Altare has basically become that older brother that Kobo had been yearning for, as they really embody that older brother/younger sister dynamic, which is soo bloody sweet.

I get that. My own little brother is on the spectrum and sometimes gets a bit much, so sometimes I do kinda wish he would be a bit more normal, even though of course he can't. But of course I still love him and try to support him as much as I can, even though he keeps rejecting my offers to help and support him

i understand this thought, but ... what's the fun in being normal? what IS considered normal? if it's being an accepted part of society, yeah... that's a tough one for us sometimes. however, we really are just as normal as anyone else. our brains just work a little different. :)

Maybe you shouldn’t think like that on “normal”, a lot of problems *we* face have to do with how modern society is set up, a lot of autistic traits used to be beneficial at another period in time, that’s why they’re recessive neruological traits. What you might be offering as help and support might come off as overbearing, as I can attest to in my own experience. Because I have a fear I won’t become independent if I learn helplessness. When he suggests he can manage things on his own, remove those “training wheels”.

I totally understand what Kobo’s going through. I myself have a brother who’s on the spectrum, so I have to be there to help him out when my parents aren’t around. And just so that everyone is aware: in the real world, there is no such thing as a perfect family. It’s sucks to hear it, but someone has got to say it sooner or later.

I had high functioning Autism The most hard part is I don't really understand emotion from a young age, so i read some people said "what kobo said it's hurt or rude" I'm not really found it was hurtful or anything. When I'm at elementary i do shunned and labelled "autistic" when I don't even know what that's supposed to mean (but i do know that's not a good thing). I live in Indonesia so My mom especially doesn't even accept the fact i had autism and forced me to be normal, and i said to her if you hated me it's okay to stabbed me. Idc about living nor want to continue to live I never loved someone, i don't have any friend and i feel numb about everything, on top of it my family is really broken 💔, that i need to hide from abusive stepdad and my sister always used me as scapegoat for her fault.

@@dinosaurusrex1482 High- and low-functioning are just terms for autistic people with or without comorbidities. Yeah Autism is a very particular disorder. I worked with kids that were on the spectrum and hope to work with more when I'm certified, and yeah it can be difficult for families and peers to work with it. Of course you love them as part of your family, but the accommodations necessary for low functioning kids can be hard for people that are off the spectrum or even high functioning autistic people to understand and adapt to. It's not mean or cruel for people like Kobo to wish for a more familiar and streamlined life for the people they love and for their own convenience. It's very natural and the fact that she grew an understanding of it is very good and mature
@TageM_Official
@TageM_Official Жыл бұрын
It's really dehumanizing for people to wish that you are not the person you are right now and it shouldn't be in their control to deem you as broken. That's why people just need to accept things like that and move on. It's better for autistic people anyway if you treat them like a normal human being and accept them for who they are, rather than change them.
@nateroo1486
@nateroo1486 Жыл бұрын
@TageM well yeah, it's dehumanizing but it does happen. In a perfect world we'd all just accept one another but that's not how it really works. Kids especially are pretty selfish by nature and with their simpler view of the world, they tend to think in that way of "I wish they were normal" because they just don't know that being autistic is normal. It's the same with adults that have autistic children where, if they've never had exposure to autism, they could fall into the same camp. My point is that it's very human to feel that way, especially if you see the disorder causing a loved one distress or if providing care youre unfamiliar with isnt something youre ready to take on, but it's important that if you do, you grow and learn not to think that way about those who function differently than you. Everyone is human and everyone is different, and one day I hope the world can be more informed about these disorders. In the meantime though, I don't think that this is simply a malicious thing or should be seen as "this person is just being insensitive". A lot of the response is from misinformation, wanting to relate to someone as a kid, or seeing people struggle and wishing that the struggle could simply stop. It's not the correct response though, and people should definitely learn to accept them for who they are. I agree.
@TageM_Official
@TageM_Official Жыл бұрын
@@nateroo1486 If people don't do that, it can very easily get out of hand. I mean just look at autismspeaks. They pretty much deal with these emotions alone and use them to further their agenda. For them it's not about making the world better for autistic people or giving them the tools to do it themselves, no they want to make the world better for everyone else. And every autistic person who speaks out against them gets treated as a child who doesn't know what they're talking about. It's really disgusting. I think they're still thinking about that whole cure stuff. Which isn't possible. The only cure that will work is acceptance, because in a world where we are just accepted like we are and our difficulties get tackled, we can function the best, if not sometimes even better. I for one have my own office and can do my work in my pace, rather than being surrounded by a bunch of people triggering my sensory issues. The fact that I have to use the train everyday is still difficult for me. Too many people and too much noise. But I can function mostly. It could be even better though.

i don't think kobo stated it as good as she could've had, but i understand where she's coming from. unfortunately a LOT of what she said was horribly stated. we are struggling more than anyone in our family ever could. if they think they're struggling, they should definitely re-think everything. i get it, but also... no.

@@TageM_Official Is it dehumanizing for someone to wish you'd not have a disability? What does accepting and moving on means? You're saying that like it's not an everyday challenge. I don't think anyone is treating them inhumanly and definitely no one can change them. One thing is treating everyone like humans, another is thinking that being disabled is not a problem or even that is a positive thing. I'm starting to think you didn't know what a deeply autistic person is.

People were too harsh on her for this segment of her stream. I have a nephew, my very first nephew in fact, who is on the spectrum and anyone who tells you that they never wished that their atypical relative was “normal” is a liar. It is tough at times to deal with. It doesn’t mean you love them any less, and these moments come and pass - but they’re there. So I completely understand and don’t fault her for expressing the desire for a “normal” brother. English isn’t her first language so she maybe worded it a bit poorly at worst.

idc if i'm late or not, but i understand now why she is the way she is. The reason she says she wants a normal brother is because she doesn't like seeing her brother suffer with autism, she wasn't trying to be rude about it on stream or make it sound rude, but genuinely deep down in her heart she wishes her brother was healthy and that he didn't have to deal with his autism so they could both live a happy life as siblings (not that she doesn't right now) but she yearns for that older brother younger sister bond that unfortunately her brother can't give her because of his autism. aside from that, when i first started watching Kobo through clips, shorts, and in collabs with other members, she always gave me a little sister vibe. i don't view her like how she explained in this stream like "oh i wanna date her" or a lovers thing or whatever's, she always gave me a cool little sister vibe, and that's one of the reasons why i adore her. and it's okay if you don't agree with what i wrote, everyone has their own opinion, i just wish for our little sister kobo a happy life.

But fortunately, over the years, his autism started to has a less affect on him and he even started to do new hobbies(which I don't remember alas).
