Damn that sucks. Looks like he came in a little too deep. Dean is a great driver and I am glad to see him run up front. I am also glad that he did not get hurt or trash the car. Keep pushing man and we miss racing with you.

He was getting pushed down the straight so he came in with more speed than he had been used too. Live and learn

That makes sense. Same braking point with more entrance speed, means your going to need to brake a little earlier than normal.

I've never seen anyone hold the wheel at 3 and 7 o'clock, is that really beneficial? (personally never driven a car on track so just curious)

He started racing at 13 and not very strong yet. He had to move his hands to get better leverage. I guess he hasn't broken the habit yet or maybe still not strong enough. He's 14 now.

I'm curious, was he hand signalling to other cars or his crew?

This is Spec Miata where you need other cars to work with you. He was asking the car behind the work with him (push him) and not race him, so they could pull away from the rest of the field. The wave off was him telling the guy pushing him to back off into the braking zone.

But it was a good save to get out of the gravel and not remain beached.

Roebling! Great track. Live and learn.

That’s what you get for the little showboating waves. Focus or hit the ditch.

Tell me you know nothing about racing without telling me. He is signaling for the car behind to work with him, bump him. Then waved him off going into the turn so he didn't bump him into the turn. Thanks for the comment though, don't forget to subscribe to learn more about racing

Man that sucks

Pay attention and stop with the hand gestures/waving. The second / panic downshift wasn't needed and is what sent you into a slide. Had you not panic downshifted that second time immediately after the initial, you probably could have saved it and lost a position or 2. Instead you decide to let the whole field by.

Yup, hes young and learning. Hang signaling is normal in this class. Downshifting while on the limit is not normal. He let the other class go by to not interfere with their race. Kudos to him for that.
