O f course being black he wouldn't have had the chance to drive in those days, and that is what makes Lewis so special. He's the only driver in F1 history to face racial abuse and still maintain his talent, poise, dignity, and grace to win.

fangio was the best driver ever. having that high win % in the most dangerous era where car break down was most common is crazy especially when he had to go against the guy with the 2nd highest win % ever ( Ascari ) which shows how amazing driver Fangio was . and the fact that he survived in that era shows true driving skills. compare with hamilton today who have much better car than even schumacher had with ferrari, i would rank senna and schumacher both above hamilton. race time is obviously faster today because of better car as well and hamilton have no real rival like fangio senna and schumacher had. vettel is not a Ascari or Prost. alonso is good driver but dont have good enough car to become champion and is not consistent enough. also fangio was world champion with 4 different cars

I've followed Lewis Hamilton since his GP2 days, lucky enough to meet him on two occasions also. Such a humble guy, was fantastic with the fans and took all the time needed to take pics and sign autographs. He even made sure photos taken with fans were the sort they wanted by taking the phones and cameras in hand himself and shooting the pic. He took a great one with my wife, she has had the pic mounted with the Silverstone special cap he signed for her. So proud, such a great world champion of the sport I adore. It's such a privilege to live in a time where F1 history was made. If I had children I'd be telling them all about where I was when Lewis won each title, and how he persevered through the toughest times. Lewis has given the brits something to be proud of again. These days are golden.

He's just signed a deal to take him to the next Concorde agreement. I think he may call it a day after that but he's shown he can handle the pressures of F1 whilst still finding time for his life. Age may play a factor but whilst he's at the top, why not go on?

I have been following F1 for decades. The greatest of all time, in my opinion, is a toss up between Fangio, Senna, Schumacher and Hamilton. With their driving skills and talents being on par with each other, I can only rank them by their other attributes. My vote for GOAT is Lewis Hamilton - a great human being.
