When Loc Brushing Goes Wrong for Locs

Loc Brushing is one of the essential parts of my regimen, but I tried a new boar bristle brush to remove lint from my locs and when I tell you this DID NOT give me the loc brushing benefits that I hoped for! My locs were not happy! So if you're looking for starter loc tips of just general tips to remove lint from your dreads by using a loc brush for lint, THIS IS A MUST WATCH!!

I tried that brush and some of the bristles came out in my locs. I threw it out. I have 2 soft bristle brushes. One for brushing out lint. The other for distributing oil in my locs after a shampoo.

I have this brush and its a no for me too. The bristles are hard as a rock and do more damage to my locs than good. I bought a soft bristle brush from Jocelyn and that brush is so gentle on my locs. I love that brush and use it regularly.

I bought this brush as well. I loved the design and idea of the double brush but after using it a few times, it has been retired to a dark corner. The bristles are very hard and rough against my hair. I have gone back to my little soft brush and my locs feel much better. Felt like I was ripping my hair with the other.

I thought it was just me! I also noticed A LOT of hair on the floor afterwards. I thought the bristles were TOO hard. Now, I won’t feel guilty about wasting the money. My hair deserves better!

I bought that brush also. I was highly disappointed in its performance and durability. Not only was it too harsh on my locs, but a lot of bristles fell out of it. Very disheartening.
