That first thing you pulled up, that plate is what you put on a railroad tie, then you put the track on top of that plate, then the spikes through those holes in the plate, but also holding down the track. means there used to be a railroad there.

That "Electrical unit from a stop light" Looks more like one of those survey units you sometimes see chained to a pole with two wires that run across the road. They count the number of cars that travel that section of road in a given amount of time. It's for calculating the traffic a road receives.

A nearby college has taken core samples of it, and found trees from the last ice age with no decomposition. So I have this theory brewing about the iron that might be down there haha.
