When Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's WR Surpassed MK8's: Dragon Driftway

While the Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 is generally much faster than its Switch counterpart, there are a few cases where 8 Deluxe has been able to exceed the predecessor. The first of these occurred less than a month into the history of 8 Deluxe on Dragon Driftway. This video compares the World Records at that point in time. Neither run is a current World Record.

So yes, indeed K4I beat Victor's MK8U wr but the only reason he really was beating the 8U wr was due to the fact the NISC wasn't really existent in 8U yet while in 8D it was giving 8D wrs a advantage by simply taking a NISC to cut off a second or 2. But then if they didn't have the NISC they would probably still not be able to beat Victor's wr.

Most certainly so. Significant differences as such will be the only thing that allows 8D to surpass 8U, and not really pace alone (well, baby strats...)
