I wish the song could have been on the dangerous album Joy cuz that would have been the number one hit song for Michael Jackson that's one of my favorite albums Dangerous album

This interview is great! “Joy” was my jam off the first Black street album. Hopefully one day we can hear MJ’s demo. Thank you for all of these interviews, and getting insight from the artists how these records were made. Appreciate this channel and content.#Salute

Thank you so much for posting this. "Joy" is one of my favorite songs so learning about it's origins is fascinating. Also, now, thanks to this interview, we know Michael's demo was uptempo. That blows my mind!

@@HalftimeChat I can never get enough behind the scenes stories about Michael Jackson. I felt your pain when you mentioned not being able to see him live because the "This Is It" shows didn't happen. I never saw him live either.

I’m amazed at how many others like this song. I thought it was a song that wasn’t as popular as “Before I let you Go” or “No Diggity”. Those are the go to songs for the masses. But to see you all loving this song like I do makes me smile. I been a fan of this song since June 1994 when it first hit the radio. I’m from Chicago and it was on 107.5 wgci. Slam it or jam it I believe. A lot of people chose to Jam it and it was in their rotation for months to come!

Joy is a classic, and some of Teddy’s best work post Dangerous album. You can hear those signature MJ sounds with Teddy’s urban ballad sound he cultivated on those Early Guy Albums and Keith Sweat’s debut. With this song being left on the cutting room, the decision to give this to BlackStreet was an appropriate one. Great Record.

Dope! I didn’t know this history with Joy and MJ. Joy is my favorite song on the first album and among my top faves in the 90s! I’m soooooo glad you are covering BLACKstreet because I don’t think they are recognized enough. It would be a shame to let Levi, Eric, Mark, Chauncey and even Terrell to not have their stories told and beautiful voices recognized. THANK YOUTHANK YOUTHANK YOU!!! 🙏🏾
