I'm not saying Micheal Phelps isn't a phenomenal swimmer, he is my idol, but he does have made advantages. He is double jointed in 3 large swimming muscles, his family knows more about swim then most, and he swam at an "ivy league" club since age 7. But he does have a crazy work ethic.
@adamkelemen46076 жыл бұрын
Obviously. U do need the perfect body shape and the perfect conditions to be the best. And on top of that u need an incredible work ethic. Everybody has the potential to be great at sth. For me, its not swimming as my arms and my body in general is too short. By now, i cannt compete at higher levels lile 4 years ago f.e. But there are other things which o can do good. Afterall, he completely deserved it. And he made the right choice. If he would have pushed to become a male super model he would have failed most probably...
@caitlinagulian35565 жыл бұрын
the being double jointed part just means he was born to be a swimmer. and you can have the most natural talent in anything but if u dont have a work ethic then u wont go anywhere with it
@brycelloyd18225 жыл бұрын
I know so many people who swim who are built and naturally talented and fail to live up to their expectations because they lack the will to work to succeed. The key to success is utilizing your surroundings (i.e. being on an amazing club) to your advantage in addition to putting forth 100% effort

Two things. He said 'one gold medal is all I want' and now he has 23, no words. Second, those are the spinners Chase Kalisz, 400im rio silver medalist, was talking about, he used to train in Baltimore with Phelps, but at that age he was only 8 and he and his friends were fascinated about Michael's spinners. They were caught sneaking into his car to see them, and they run away when Michael saw them, and the next day he asked Phelps for autographs, good story

That's not true and that's not what MP said. He said lots of things are possible. That's not that same as anything is possible. You can't run a marathon in three seconds. That's impossible. Humans have limits. That said, the limits are probably not what we think they are, for most of us. We can do more than we probably think we can, but that's not the same thing as thinking you can do anything.
