in this video I perform a real estate inspection on a Lennox heat pump. For the most part the system ran great all the pressures and temperatures checked out but I was surprised to find measure quick flagged an issue for low static pressure. after visually inspecting the evaporator coil I found it was heavily impacted which was causing the low static. this is a testament to the importance of both using modern technology and good old-fashioned Visual inspection. let me know in the comments below if you come across anything similar in the field. thanks for watching!

Nice to see your journey and where your journey leads you.. One note, i always pull up the manufacturer manual to check the airflow chart, That will give you an idea of the range you need for static and cfm, in you case it would have showed you that there was a problem... Bluon, as you know, is a good app for manuals. Also You mentioned TrueFlow, you still could have used your truflow when you pulled the filter. Just fake like the filter was installed but it isnt, It still would have given you your Airflow results and showed the airflow restriction. Im in minnesota and run across much more gas furnaces, energy conservatory just came out with an update for the Truflow, Airflow testing in the heating mode for electric and gas furnaces.

Nice! Appreciate the feedback! I need to check out that new update for the Tec app. Also if I would have checked the airflow based on the blower pressure chart, it would have showed that I actually had high air flow because my measured total static pressure was really low. If I remember correctly I believe the total static pressure was around a .2 which probably would have translated to maybe around 950 CFM or so on high speed which is way to high of air flow but if the fan speed were set to low that would only translate to around 700 cfm which wouldnt be that high for a 1.5 ton system. Hope this makes sense Also I've tried using the true flow grid without a filter before with no luck. I'm not sure if they've updated it since but every time I've tried it needed a minimum difference in the supply reference pressure in order to let you proceed to the next stage.

@@HVACTechKnowledgy in this area .5 is what you try to shoot, most of the time you actually in up in the .7 ranges, especially with the ecm motors. So your .2 would be extremely low here... ---- Outlet probe placement is also critical, the right side of the plenum would have been better choice, even though it still would have been low, but that way you are getting more velocity out of the flat side of the coil instead of the center. -- Only a suggestion, Give Chris Hughes at the Energy Conservatory when your on a job , if you have not spoken to him, he Is very helpful with the truflow..

Doesn’t the arrow for the supply go towards the air flow not with?

If you are talking about the static pressure probe, to be honest with you it really doesn't make a difference from my experience. As a matter of fact this video is a bit older, I actually started using ball inflators and they work great. Plus you can put them in much smaller holes, most of the time I don't even have to drill a hole I just remove a screw from the high limit mount on a furnace for instance.

@@HVACTechKnowledgy good to know dude! Will need to look into that method! Have you demonstrated that one before? Thanks

I was just about to say the same. I've always been informed to point into the airflow. Was once told as long as they are the pointed in the same direction it doesn't matter, but I've never tried it.

Hey Kyle nice to meet you! I don't know if I'll be able to share the links in the comments every time I try the comments get deleted but the apps are called measurequick and techlink. Also check out the measurequick KZbin channel the videos over there will really help you get the most out of this app! The videos by Jim Bergman are the best to watch he's the inventor of the apps and an absolute genius.
