Looks so easy. As far as the water spilled, I'm sure you know the temperature up there. It drys fast!

I just kept an old wire harness and cut off one end and kept those wires attached to the 1,3,12,and 15 positions. I then added a red and blue wire as required to bundle those pairs of wires. Now we just plug it into motor and connect at r and c terminals.

Without this video and since you were the last to touch this unit, they would have blamed you for this, as they always do. Good thing you shoot video for this channel. It just saved your rear.

Thanks that is a good remedy and alternative. As soon as my parts arrive I will have to do the same thing to my badly corroded screws in my bath tub faucets. Thanks!!

I have a feeling that the compressor had been running hot for sometime due to the darkening of the label on the compressor. I was told by a emerson copeland rep that if the label is discolored, and looks crinkled and coming off compressor then that is a sign of compressor overheating or running hot. Label should be white in color and completely adheared to the compressor housing. This looks like a heat pump, and looks to be in good shape and not too old plus its a lennox. Heat pumps are way more expensive than a straight cool unit so most definitely worth putting in a new compressor. I would check everything over before hand. I feel the run cap had nothing to do with it. If wired wtong compresdor wont start, if you get fan and herm backwards fan will take off like a rocket and overheat and either go off on thermal overload or burn up. If the mfd is too big for compressor it will overheat and trip the thermal. You need to check the mfd rating on the capacitor and verify it with the copeland app or contact lennox directly. My thought is maybe someone tried to savatage this unit by installing a cap that had a much bigger mfd rating than it calls for. I have seen this a few times. Compressor going off on thermal because the last tech installed one of a bigger value.

With hardstart kit you can have a bad Run cap and compressor will startup and appear to run normally, just run current will be high and power factor will be low. Run cap has little contribution to startup when there is a large start capacitor with hardstart kit. Electrolytic start capacitor and potential relay have poor reliability. Suspect them first. I would also have given it a new start capacitor just because they have limited lifespan with their fluid electrolyte drying out over time. Capacitance drops as electrolyte dries out from capacitor heating over time.

I believe what happened here is the herm wire was sandwiched between the frame of the condenser and the edge of the capacitor, which is all grounded, which means the start wire had a direct short to ground. Turn on the power and BOOM 💥💥.

This doesn't make the screw "too long" because it's no longer threading into the stem, this requiring to cut the screw a little shorter (or buya slightly shorter screw)? (Awesome adaptation btw! I doubt I would've ever thought of this! You can work with me any time!)

So at 4:10 you mention you have 31 psi on low side and 56 on high side. Not so. Those are temperatures, specifically saturation temperatures hence the degree symbol along with and F just below the number. The psi reading you refer to is below your sat temps.
