To this day, nobody has her unique delivery, cadence & lyricism matched. She'll go down in history as a legend in music, purely on her skills, business sense & versatility. People like to downplay her or compare her to others when in reality nobody has occupied her position or can touch her broad discography. She proved you don't need a hard Hip Hop beat to be a rapper. You can do it on anything & still deliver bars. Nicki and Drake really ran so everyone else can walk. Their mainstream success as male and female counterparts is unheard of in their rap community. I disagree. For the past couple years hip hop/trap music took over and anything outside of that wasn't getting as much buzz. Take "Bed" for instance. Pop music is only recently starting to get big again
@TimothyRichard123454 жыл бұрын
Byron Berlitz I mean that doesn’t really count. She talk-sings on a lot of songs (including Bed) but she doesn’t really SING anymore. Bed was more of an R&B song than a pop song and when I say crossover I mean where she’s doing it herself not where someone else is singing for her.

Sucks, but its fine, cause not all icons have a no.1 hit. Queen Latifah, Foxy, DMX, Ice CUbe, Missy Elliott, Big Sea and Nas don't have no.1s either. Regardless, her top 10s, 20s and 40s have outsold many people's no.1 hits. I tried to do as much research as possible and found that Super Bass and Starships alone have each sold over 10m in America and over 18m worldwide. Chun Li jumped over 80 spots on billboard in 2 weeks, 1 of the biggest jumps in history and Nicki has 5 of the top 10 longest charting songs ever by female rappers with Super Bass, Starships, Anaconda, Moment 4 Life and Only, all of them having charted between 25-40 weeks on billboard. Nicki done sold over 120m records in America and over 300m worldwide and has almost 240 awards, 1 of the top 20 most awarded artists ever and is worth over $100m, the richest female mc ever and in the top 20 richest rappers ever, too. She doesn't need a no.1 hit or a Grammy either. She's achieved everything else.

Lauryn Hill is the pioneer of rapping and singing nobody was doing both at her level when she was at her peak. Drake Kanye and Nicki just took that formula and brought it to the mainstream. And now you could argue that nobody has done it bigger than Nicki.

I listened to Roman Reloaded last year after getting youtube music and OMG it was SUCH a fun album! So quirky and full of personality. Before I knew it, I had reached the end without even noticing it and I never skipped a single track. Even Starships became listenable to me because it was just like a cartoonish type of song.

She "barely acknowledges it", yet has no choice but to perform her pop songs when she tours overseas. Her R&B infused songs are some of her biggest as well. And she seems to have fun when doing so. I wonder if her hate is genuine, or what she feels she has to say to her hip-hop listeners. The Barbz love all of it and that's all that matters.

Drake and Nicki do not get the praise they rightfully deserve. They helped shape this generation of hip hop and will go down as icons. People actually have the nerve to compare Nicki to Cardi and call drake’s music trash because of he sings now. Versatility in this evolving industry is KEY and that’s why Nicki and drake haven’t died out yet.

The pop songs are such a joy to listen to and I wish she didn't get so much hate about it, the album was a smart business move that showcased all her talent. I wish She didn't completely abandon her roots with pop because it's part of what made her so great and unique, I feel like she let a part of herself go just to please the hip hop community and it's a little sad, either way, I love Nicki as a rapper and a singer ♥️

I'm not a huge nicki fan by any means, but I think she kinda implemented herself in multiple genres besides hip hop better than a lot of other hip hop artists. Instead of just releasing one album that's fully pop or r&b, she kinda implemented those genres in her albums and featured in all sorts of songs from all genres. In that aspect, I think she's comparable to Wayne how she can feature on any sort of song and steal the show. Artistically, she's kinda like Kanye how she comes off as this crazy character that can bend genres
