🌸🥷🏼Bob San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 not a single day goes by without me counting my blessings that you are so willing to support the orchids! Thank you for voicing your experience as a member and letting anyone that reads this, see that you are satisfied with the perks of the channel. Its so kind of you to express it publicly and for mentioning this on a regular basis! Truly appreciate you 🙏🏼 and thank you so much for watching this video! The pulchra pre mounting... I waited over a year to decide how she behaves before deciding that mounting is the best course of action. You see, I try to practice what I preach when it comes to 'wait and watch' before repotting or any change up of an orchid that arrives new to the collection 😆🫶🏼❤️🌸

🦒🙌💨🪂 oh boy, you can't complain of lack of airflow😃. It sure was windy!!! I just transitioned a Phalaenopsis to WC and I hope it is safe. It is a complex hybrid and the temperatures are still very mild even at night because she's indoors. She lives in my pantry by a south facing window where temperatures don't have dramatic changes. Yay, I just saw two puppies having fun under your table 🤣. Hope you will have some fun too, going around the table 😂 or otherwise, a happy saturday to you all 🤩😍💖🌹

FFF 🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️😍🥰💐 hey, meine liebe Freundin!! Incredible wind, and it circulates now, I cannot find a still corner 🤯 great for watering the orchids outdoors as they will dry out, but yeah... it is a nuisance for sure! I wonder if, inadvertently, I am growing the pulchra in water culture because I do have 1 cm of water down there until it evaporates. The roots stay green even if the water has disappeared, but I do not leave them without water for long, not letting them dry out... water culture, I guess? 😅I am glad this orchid is still alive... I do NOT want to loose it! The pups are nuts! The wind winds them up as well, and they go bonkers ... chasing each other around! Today I walked King and he saw someone play with his dog and a ball in the distance and, it was game over! We 'had' to check this out! So... he got to play with 2 huge Afghans 😅 then, when we left the party and went back to the business of actually going for a walk, he kept waiting for the ball... even by the time we got home, he sat in the hallway waiting for me to produce the ball! 😆 incredible... they do remember if THEY want to! 😆 it was a bit warmer today, and tonight, I am not wrapped up like a burrito while working at my desk 👍🏼 thank goodness... had a bit of a breather! Hope that your Saturday was nothing short of sparkling and beautiful, amiga mia! Thank you so much for watching 😘🌸

Andrea, hi! 🤩💐 I used to loose orchids even with heat mats, so... I stopped using them. I found it a waste of electricity,... paying for heat mats and then loose orchids anyway? 🤯 mine are currently doing what your's are, as close to a window as possible. Thank you so much for your kind comment, once again, and for watching! Hope you had a fabulous Saturday, lovely lady 🌸

Hmm, you know what is missing from your patio? A big old Jade Plant (Crassula ovata). Having those aerial roots down in a low water reservoir is a good idea, not only for what you mentioned, but if they have a growing tip then they will be used to having moisture all the time and it will make them easier to transition. The Phalaenopsis keikis I harvested over the summer, I had the tips in water for about two weeks before I potted them up. Since each only had two roots to work with, it was imperative not to lose them. And they didn't, kept right on growing when I potted them, even though they were originally aerial. So I'm contemplating an experiment. I bought some growstone as an additive instead of sponge rock and I'm wondering if I should buy a bag baby and try growing it in s/h with the growstones. Now my history with leca s/h isn't good but I'm wondering how the growstones would work instead. Better? The same? Not that I'm unhappy with growing in organic media but it might be a better option for growing plants that like their roots a bit cooler.

Don Miguel 🥰💐´hola jefe! ohhhh... I am sorry, but I cannot stand those 😆 had them all over the place in Kenya and thought they were ugly / common 😬 some of the roots down there have root tips, others were broken, but... yes... that is the plan with the roots that are no growing down into the mask, hoping that they will reach the water by the time it is time to transition this orchid. I did not want to mention that long term plan in this video, because I did not want to confuse the subject as to, .... but but but 😅 thought I would muddy the waters if I brought that up. 😬I have been cultivating den aphyllum keikis with you in mind... straight into a little bit of water, and the result is by far the best. I thought that I had epic roots after a summer of care, for my monster mount, but, two keikis with roots submerged in water are doing great! Which reminds me, tomorrow i have to check the level because it has been a couple of days since I looked at them. I think I need me some orchids in some form of receptacle where I can admire roots 😂The grow stones in your environment will work better, imo... leca and high humidity somehow don't mix well, unless another not water retentive media is added to the pot (like pebbles) to break up the high moisture levels in the pot. I am planning a video with recipes for different climates, for inorganic growing bien sur! 😅 but grow stones, they are much more porous and airy than leca will ever be in a high humidity climate. I would give it a go, but then... I am biased 🤪😅hope you had a fabulous day, Michael! Thank you so much for watching 😘🌸

@@NinjaOrchids well, I bought a bag baby (C. lueddemaniana coerulea) this morning, unceremoniously removed it from the (very wet) bark and plonked it in some wet grow stones. I didn't put any water in the reservoir for now, so we shall see what happens with it. I also stopped at the orchid nursery to see if she had either C. Dinard or George King 'Southern Cross'. She said "I know I have a Dinard but it is somewhere in there", motioning to the overflow area which is just rows of hundreds of plants. To the other she just said, "good luck". But I didn't come home empty handed. I found a Chondranthes (Warczerhyncha) Amazing Andrea, couldn't believe it was there and I couldn't leave it for someone else to kill. So the keikis in water are going root bananas? You'll be adding them to the curtain in spring then? OOOH, and the back division I took from Huntleya wallisii appears to be sprouting a new growth. I wasn't sure it would do anything, it was an old, ugly part of the plant. But given it isn't common, I figured I'd at least give it a chance rather than just tossing it out. The main part of the plant hasn't skipped a beat so I shall have one to pass on, perhaps in the spring.

You get those kinds of orchids as bag babies?? Wow!! Deluxe, huh!! Bag babies are great to adapt to a media change, especially if it holds more water, as you know... the little ones need more than the mature ones 😉you had a great Saturday!! Score!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 you did not spend time looking for the Dinard?? 😂😂 if you want to see the blooming size Dinard that Reah got from Norman's, here is the link to her video with timestamp, just in case... no guarantee that they all look like that but, it is blooming size. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmGtoGylpd6hh8k timestamp 05:06 gotta love cattleyas and their capabilities!! I wish my perrinii would have managed to continue with the new growth! I purposely left a lot more back bulbs on the division because of the skinny structures, but that was not enough. But still... I LOVE seeing meh division coming to life 🙌🏼🙌🏼 NICE!! 👍🏼

@@NinjaOrchids customers aren't allowed in the overflow area and it would have taken all day even if I could have. Paula bought a "blooming size" one from Norman's and that was definitely not a blooming size plant. I have real issue paying $65 plus shipping for a plant that may or may not be blooming size.

Reah, hi! 😍💐I remember where you live, because I am jealous of your location 😅 your indoor temperatures need to stay agreeable and the light levels consistent to repot without a new growth / roots growing. How bad is your media? How long have you had it in the pot it is currently in? Is it crawling out of the pot? Let me know and I can say if it's ok to go ahead or if you should hold off until a new growth starts showing new roots, which may coincide with spring. Just want to get a better idea if it is an emergency 😬really appreciate you watching this video, Reah! I hope that you are having a wonderful day! (sorry for the late reply!) 🌸

oh, nursery sphagnum moss and pot. Ok... here is what I suggest! A half and half repot. Take the orchid out of the pot, and get 30% of the old media out of the pot. I don't recommend a full clean up, this is about buying time until you get a new growth / roots without having something old in the pot. So, take away 30% of the old media as carefully as possible and repot in moss only. Do not add bark, but leave the fresh moss you add, nice and fluffly as a filler. Bark is too dry for the old roots (even seedling bark) the older roots are used to a compact wet environment, but that does not mean the moss is still good. So... a half and half, replacing with fresh moss and keep that fluffy and airy. Let the new moss dry out between watering. Remember that whatever is left in the pot afterwards you have refreshed some of the moss with new, is still old and will hold on to water much more than your new moss. If you see growing root tips, then do not let the new moss dry out too much, don't let it go crispy. Let me know if that makes sense? 🤗 and if you have any further questions!
