Federer had many amazing shots in his armoury, but his backhand really was a deadly weapon. i feel so lucky to have lived during this Golden era of Tennis !
@nicolaswhitehouse389421 күн бұрын
Back then in his prime, Federer really wielded a hammer instead of a racket. Balls he was hitting seemed so much heavier than his latter part of his career, particularly on that forehand side.
@SHVideografie21 күн бұрын
Absolutely, he was hitting bombs back then. I think it's because his fh swing was a bit bigger, he hit it slightly flatter and deeper. Later on his fh swing became smaller and more 'wristy'. I think this change cost him a couple of slams later in his career. But perhaps this is not the main cause and he changed his stringtension or something. Dunno.
@wxsty20 күн бұрын
@@SHVideografie maybe his back could no longer handle the forehand swing in the second half of his career.
@lsb907319 күн бұрын
Racquet head change in 2014/15 gave him more power on his bh, at the cost of control & power on his fh. Not sure why that would be but we all saw it. He had back issues his whole career so dont think that was a factor as he grew older. And anyway that primarily affected his serve.

@@lsb9073 The courts got slower too, look at australian open 2007 and 2008. US Open 2014 and 2015, before courts slow down Joker already have problems against Roger even at his peak. WImbledon too, that grass is really no longer the grass we see back in the early 20s.

Another things is too is tennis balls got alot heavier and courts slower so his four hands would seem alot less potent

great year for RF (92-5)!!! prime Nalbandian was a monster back then ... great talent with no luck when meeting RF. fast surfaces is really entertaining i don't know why they slowed it down? to stop RF's dominance? that's pretty much i can see.
@NamTran-xc2ip18 күн бұрын
Do not agree about the 'no luck' you are talking about. Nalbandian was getting humiliated by unseeded players and regularly not even in the top 10. He simply lacks work ethics.

The match in this video was in 2006. But a year later, Nalbandian came back with a revenge meeting Roger in the final. He not only beat Roger in the final, on his way to the final...at the 2007 Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid, also known as the ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid: Nalbandian beat Rafael Nadal, the world's second-ranked player, 6-1, 6-2 in the Quarterfinals. Nothing much you can do against Federer back then, begels left and right, insane game with no weaknesses, unless you are named Nadal and on clay, nothing much you could do, even Nadal got begeled on clay by this man, and on every other surffice as well

Speaking of bagels, the highest bagels served is Connors 180, followed by Lendl - 148. Whereas the top three legends : Nadal -119 (being bageled-15 times) Djokovic - 110 (being bageled 12 times) Federer - 95 (being bageled 5 times, the last time was in 2021 Wimbledon by Hurcazs, his last match of his career)
