You didn't have a diagnosis until your 30's?!! That's awful! I can't imagine trying to deal with such a thing, without the right help for so long! I don't have a stoma or similar problem, but what you're talking about resonates with me regarding mental health issues. My mum is 88 and she still acts like my anxiety or depression don't exist - she can't see them🤷🏻‍♀️ I know some is a generational thing, but it's frustrating. I've said it so often, but you don't know what someone may be dealing with, it doesn't hurt to be a little more understanding of others and a little more patience goes a long way.

Hi. I agree there is a generational thing, a lot of elder people will not acknowledge mental health, which is a shame when its their own children that are suffering. Of course we are adults but we will always be their children. Some people really need their parents to rely on, if they don’t understand it makes life that little bit harder.

So happy you have a supportive wife , and truly so so sorry for all you had to go through . I recently found your videos when searching about what its like to have a scope with a colostomy which was very helpful had it on the 5th of October and my follow up was a bit unnerving he really didn't understand my long history and changed his story a bit about a revision once I told him what I went through before it. So now I'm scheduled for an other Hernia repair on December 28th Hopefully this time it goes better Hopefully this time it goes better than lasts time they didn't believe me either after that surgery. Thanks again for you videos.

I am really hoping things go better for you this time around. It’s so draining when people don’t believe you or don’t listen to you.

Another great video, yes I have an ileostomy and I know have a permanent disabled badge. There is many a time where people can become very agitated when the thing their seeing an active normal person. Similarly with the toilets, sometimes I ignore, but mostly I try to educate but you are fighting a losing battle. Keep the great work going..

Sydney, even after diagnosis doctors did not believe what was happening to me. Passing faeces was causing me to lose the function of my left leg. Doctors told me that wasn't happening. They diagnosed me with FND. I had to mobilise on crutches. When the top of my left leg became paralysed nobody believed me. In 2019 my pelvis fell apart. Then they believed me that it was not FND; but I was confined to a powerchair. Now, 4 years later, confined to a chair, by manually moving the leg, I have come out of that paralyses. I plan on seeing someone privately for my pelvis. Have I had the stoma that I need( I have lost the ability to poop and the Colon is slow)? No. I am back to not eating. My body has suffered enough.

Argh! Thats sounds awful, you have certainly gone through it and it would seem continue to go through it. It is absolutely awful when the medical world don’t believe you. They are often our last hope but what hope is there when they don’t believe you.

@sydneystoma385 Exactly. My mental health has suffered too; and of course that counts against me. One consultant even said my pain is psychological.

Yes i have been told my pain is psychological aswell by medical people and people that were close to me. It is truly awful that people think we can somehow create this pain with the power of out minds, it is so infuriating! 🤬
