That’s just a dumb idea… technology isn’t perfect. No matter how hard you try. This idea opens up a whole slew of issues that can’t be solved. So if a camera stops working mid arrest due to technological malfunctions… the suspect should just be… let go? Say the suspect knows this law and intentionally smashes/breaks the camera…. What then? Do they get off free? You can SAY ‘only if an OFFICER turns it off’. But that opens up another set of issues. It’s almost impossible to actually tell if it’s intentionally turned off or not and a cop could say they accidentally hit it. So then you’d have a suspect who got off free because it was off and then an unsolvable case about an officer turning it off. So that’s two criminals who get to walk free… Any more bright ideas armchair law maker?

I remember when I did ride-alongs during college as part of a criminal justice organization I was in officers did this a lot. They literally searched one guys car "in the hood" for 30 minutes looking for anything. The inside of his car was dirty and they tried to look at every crumb for a piece of drug. Only later when we were in the suburbs and they caught some kids with alcohol. They called ones parent (part of the force) to come to the scene to fix it. I never fully trusted cops after that. This was over 20 years ago and nothing has changed.

Oh man, i remember being stopped by a two cop team, one was black and one was white. The entire stop they called me the C word and accused me of selling crack in the area. I literally was waiting outside an apartment complex with my friend so we could drive to the local watering hole. This is why the distrust for law enforcement is so strong. The power imbalance is too strong. It's not like in a department store where an employee can charge you extra for no reason or lie to you about something being out of stock. These officers literally have our lives and futures in their hands. The can end someone's life (literally and figuratively) on a whim. Seeing stuff like this really make you wonder how many people are sitting in jail that are innocent. It blows my mind that some of these cops can falsify documents, tamper with evidence, or even plant evidence and still have a job after being caught. How is that even possible? I work in healthcare as a nurse and out licenses are on the line every single day. How is that not the same for cops?

only way to change this is with a state legislative branch and judges that actually support making these things illegal. it's exactly like you say: lawyers, health care works, all know what it's like to work in a profession that actually has professional standards (boards that oversee, laws, ability to sue). Imagine the chaos that would happen if nothing was illegal. a doctor could overdose a patient on morphine, and somehow it's okay because "well yeah he may have made a mistake but the job is stressful so that makes him unable to be held accountable." we're in a situation where cops can be found to be completely, morally and constitutionally, against the law but our treasonous judges and legislators say "well they have to make split second decisions so we shouldn't have any laws against any wrong behavior."

It only appears so if you choose to watch videos where they do and ignore the ones that show consequence.

Halfway through - First is an example of planting drugs (which I have seen numerous times cops do to white people as well). The second is an example of incompetence (not knowing about the DV designation and being too proud to just back down, which cops do all the time to everyone because of their egos). $75K, if true, is actually not bad as compensation for this type of case. A lot of folks, especially on YT, think these are million-plus-dollar cases; they are NOT. And stipulating (i.e., agreeing) that the defendant(s) did nothing wrong is STANDARD for ALL SETTLEMENTS; *this is why you get the money UPFRONT,* without going forward with a trial. You CAN always *refuse* to settle, and go to trial, but you then take the risk of losing, in which case you will have spent a whole lot of money out of pocket (unless you were able to retain counsel on a contingency or pro bono basis, which is not always feasible) only to receive NOTHING. The bad part here is that the taxpayer foots the bill for all these settlements; they need to be paid by LEOs directly or their unions or a carrier that insures LEOs (for which LEOs, not their public entity employers, pay the premiums).

@@phildavenport4150 Yeah, I got detained near the end of July of last year. I crashed my car. Cop kept accusing me of having an oppiate overdose, throwing me around on the ground, and then dislocated my shoulder to cuff me like that before throwing me in the back of his vehicle in over 100 degree weather for over an hour. I kept telling him, "I'm pretty sure I had a seizure. I'm epilectic. I just left work not feeling well, call my boss." Granted, I'm typically a bit fighty when I'm semi-conscious coming out of a full blown seizure and cussed him out while he was throwing me around, but I also kept saying things like, "What the fuck are you doing? I just had a medical emergency asshole. Call my boss instead of trying to fucking beat up a handcuffed guy 140 pounds lighter than your fatass who just had a fucking medical emergency!" Eventually I was just let go because, surprise! Everything I told him was 100% true. When I finally got to the hospital rather than handcuffed in a hotbox, they made me get a CT scan on my shoulder he messed up then handcuffed it that way for over an hour because it was in so bad of condition. I had to go to physical therapy. Nothing happened to him despite me filing a complaint and requesting his bodycam footage, which they never gave me.
