This happened to a KZbinr/streamer I once knew. She went on a reality show a week after her Dad died, and they kept prodding her about it and getting her all worked up and upset, and then they'd do the interviews. And for the entire month she was gone, they would bring up her dead Dad every single opportunity they got which would piss her off and put her in a bad mood. And then they would use that to frame her as this unlikable asshole who's just rude to everyone for no reason. Completely excluding the whole "My Dad just passed away and I'm upset and the producers keep bugging me about it" part. Of course. It's pretty sad that producers can do that. Edit: Tradechat

I remember a case (in japan) where a young woman ended up killing herself because she was bullied by many people. She had partaken in a reality show, they edited her to be like an asshole and inserted countless drama, they also forced her to act way more "whiny" to make her look even worse. All this then led to her being harrassed because people thought she was really like that... reality shows shouldn't be legally able to do this shit to someone, it's VILE. This happened to an acquaintance of mine, who was on a particular artistic talent oriented reality show. He was already incredibly good, right from the get go. @AltheaAnsah-oo6lf youtubers tend to have this secret passion for...having food and their bills paid 🙄
@pinkneko13
@pinkneko13 8 ай бұрын
@AltheaAnsah-oo6lf there are actually not many reputable companies promoting like this, most of them are like this, raycon, hello fresh etc. The vpns are fine because they don't do much. There isn't one of these youtube sponsors that I heard good stuff about. So to choose only good prodcuts means basically not taking any sponsors and few can live off ads alone. Generally speaking be weary of things recommended by youtubers.

Had a coworker who sister's worked in Production on one of the seasons of the Bachelor. Apparently you got a bonus check if you caused a scene or seemed more antagonistic because it simulated 'drama'. This is lower though, cause not only do they give him the unconsented villain edit - but he's probably not getting paid for it.

i'm so sorry you had to go through that horrible villain edit. it's clear the producers only care about the views and the money and not about any of their contestants, absolutely i suggest you sue them or at least get legal advice first as to how to claim damages for your social and emotional damages.

reminds me of the LoveNow Arc in Oshi no Ko. It specifically goes into this issue, which eventually leads to some mental distress for the "Villain", and explores the topic. In general the manga is all about the inner workings of the showbiz, while also telling a really good story. I do recommend

Unrealistic, they bothered to actually make it look like his face is moving while saying these things, instead of cutting from reaction to reaction during the bad ADR, maybe accidentally letting a few tenths of a second of his not moving face on screen as he's "talking".

Lol this is also used in competition reality shows. In season 1 of Zumbo's Just Desserts (spoiler alert if you haven't seen it yet!).... They started off painting one contestant, i think her name was Kate as the snarky one who thought she was better than everyone else, but then as the contestants thinned out and it became apparent that she was probably going to win, they started showing her 'good' side - teling another contestant that she forgot to put her ice cream in the freezer for example. Probably because they didnt want viewers to hate the winner 🙄 So yea as the saying goes "no reality in reality TV"
