That battle-damaged Anakin, along with the deluxe Darth Vader figure on his operating table, were probably the most gruesome figures that Hasbro had put out at that point. While I've parted ways with most of my POTF2 and later Star Wars figures, I've held onto "crispy" Anakin just for the sheer awe factor of producing a figure like that.

I did the midnight madness at TRU with a group of friends. No sleep and the next morning we all went to KB Toys to get the rest of the figures. B/C no one else knew to check that store. OMG that was almost 20 years ago. Thank you. 🙂

Back in 2004~2005 I got 99% of my STAR WARS news from the Insider magazine. For the ROTS the magazine included a gatefold photo of all the figures being released on day 1.. What an amazing time to be a collector! Honestly, I never liked the card back from that era... But I still bought every one of them I could find.

Fun Fact: At 11:00 in the video, that's Palpatine holding a Blue Lightsaber! The reason was that originally the fight between Palps and Mace Windu in his office was filmed differently, with Anakin already present when the Jedi arrive to arrest him. Palpatine grabbed Anakin's lightsaber to fight Mace with in the original cut. By the time George Lucas re-filmed the scene it was too late, Hasbro had already made tons of the Palpatine figure with the blue lightsaber, so they just released them - although they also released the correct "Red Lightsaber" version as well.

The AT-RT is basically a miniature AT-ST. They were on the Wookiee planet. I love how the AT-RT drivers look. I had most of these figures, then a while later I sold them to my dealer. I like the ROTS figures, but there were some that were better than others.

The ROTS figures were awesome. They found the perfect level of articulation and detail in that size. Plus collecting all the clone troopers was fun. These figures made up for the terrible Episode 2 figures, which were just small plastic statues.

That's what I was going to say, the AOTC figures. When it comes to the chest articulation, I think the clone troopers kinda get a pass due to the armor.

I was working with my dad at the time and I was in a different state when these figures came out. We swung by a Target after work and we both went straight to the toys. :) Like father like son, I guess. :) Before I left the state for work, I gave my sister $400 to pick out a bunch of ROTS stuff, because I knew I was going be gone on release day. I told her to get grab the Target exclusive lava Darth Vader, a bunch of figures, and get some LEGOs. She didn't disappoint, I came home to a dick load of ROTS toys. :) Thanks for the video

I was 12 when this movie came out and remember seeing a lot of merchandise of it at Walmart, the figures looked nice, but didn’t buy any when they came out because I was more into video games at the time than collecting figures.

I went to TRU the weekend they were released! I got the Vader on table, and the 12" Anakin to Vader. I also bought the Grevious silly string blaster. I didn't get any of the 4" figures until the vintage collection where I got an Anakin that said Vader on the card.

Man, Star Wars was at the top back in 2005. None of the sequels had anywhere near the wealth of figures that the prequels had, and the ROTS line was king. I remember Walmart had one side of an ENTIRE AISLE dedicated just to ROTS toys back then, not some measly 1 ft section of peg board. Those were the days. The line was fantastic for the time & several of the figures still hold up from a sculpt perspective. They were smart about how they allotted articulation of characters as well- Jedi or troopers would have several points of articulation while more basic background characters like senators or guards only had 6 or so points. It was a smart way to cost out the line, allowing for plenty of characters that could be posed the way you needed them. I always thought Disney should return to that formula rather than having separate 5poa & TVC lines for each property, but then they pretty much abandoned that model & gave up on 3.75" almost entirely. At the end of the day, the properties you're marketing with this stuff has to be good for any of that to matter.

I still really like the first Obi-Wan in that line and the #28 Anakin I referred to in the other comment. That Anakin figure was really well made in sculpt AND quality. They look great next to each other, too. 😎 Throw my custom Sidious and custom Yoda in there and you've got yourself a shelf. :)

I went nutts for these figures when they were coming out I was convinced my girlfriend would break up with me but when we would go to Wal-Mart after I got off work on payday for groceries I'd be standing there holding 2 or 3 figures trying to decide which one to get and then either putting the groceries away or checking out she'd of grabbed which ever one I put back!

Padme should've gone into hiding on Alderaan, dying later so Leia could remember her & Luke should've been temporarily hidden on Dagobah so he could find it familiar in ESB.

I never thought about that. Thank you. :) It makes perfect sense. So Padme should've given birth to the twins earlier in the third act on Coruscant, not all the way at the end on Polis Massa and the twins are born while Anakin is away running errands for the Emperor, is what I'm thinking. :)

Junkman i loved the General Grievous and C-3PO figures the most from Revenge Of The Sith figure line but i liked them all. I remember seeing this movie on opening day and i couldn't believe how much destruction Anakin caused b4 and while becoming Darth Vader. Great video Junkman. The ATRT was the ATAT before it was imperial.

The Anakin figure that comes with the red lightsaber could be related to his fight with Dooku early in the movie, since he did end up holding two lightsabers at the end of the fight. Didn't they have a pregnant Padme in series 1? I know they made that figure.

There was a pregnant Padme figure. :) There were two different versions of the Anakin figure, one where he could hold Dukoo's lightsaber and one with an interchangeable hand holding a red lightsaber. The one with Dooku's lightsaber is kinda rare.

I was stationed in Korea when ROTS came out and thought I was going to miss out on the figures. Fortunately, I was able to get most of the first wave on base! I also got to see the movie a day earlier thanks to the time zone I was in.

The different types of packages for each movie annoyed me. They finally learned five years later that the classic Kenner style was the most appealing one. This was the movie for which I got the least amount of figures, probably only pregnant Padme and a wookiee.

That Anakin figure came with a blue and red lightsaber. There was also a light-up role playing lightsaber that could either light up blue or red. I was actually hoping that Anakin would turn off his blue lightsaber in the movie, then re-ignite it and it would be red! That would have been cool, but in retrospect, that wouldn’t make much sense, since this is the lightsaber Luke will eventually get.

50 year old fan as I write this, but I think I was the only person naively that didn't know or did not want to believe that the Emperor and the Senator from Naboo or Darth Sidious were the same person. I thought surely there would be some switcheroo. Brothers. Twins. "Dark science, cloning, secrets only the Sith knew". But no, they were the same person and I felt really stupid by the end of the whole thing that I didn't realize it. 😊

I remember seeing the C-3PO figure from the first Ep3 wave sitting on the shelf a few days before the official street date for the toys. At the time, it was one of the best looking C-3PO figures made and I tried buying it, but of course it got blocked at the register and I had to wait. I didn't like Ep3 at all when I first watched it, and it took a while for me to really start to warm up to the movie. I'll still never put the Prequels on the same level as the Original Trilogy, though.

I bought a handful of these when they came out, but that was about the time I quit collecting for awhile. I was super disappointed with the prequels, it was hard to stay interested, also I was pretty broke in those days too. I got back into collecting about three or four years ago, and new figures are waaaaay more expensive! At least most of these ROTS figures are fairly cheap on ebay. I picked up another couple handfuls recently.

Even though Revenge of the Sith was my favorite prequel, I didn't buy the figures. I quit collecting after seeing the phantom menace in the theater. But seeing these now, they're pretty cool. I wish I had picked some up. There were a lot of clones. I had only seen so much clone wars. They actually seemed more cool after playing battlefront 2. I agree that figure doesn't really look like Chewbacca enough. That's great about the Michael Jackson Yoda 😂😂😂 They should have a button where he sings smooth criminal, Ani are okay? are you okay Ani? 😂😂😂

RothS had minimal merch. Clone troopers are sweet. Chewbacca hasn't looked like himself since RothJ. AothC (horrifically bad movie except for some of the earlier action scenes) (and the Special Edition monstrosities) killed Star Wars for me and tainted RothS for a long time. I was lukewarm to RothS for years and then went back and forth on it. It's decent if you don't see it as a true prequel until it goes off the rails during the Mace and Palpatine fight, and it continues being ridiculous while becoming tedious. RothS escalates making Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin awful people and Mace is added to this. It's much worse as a real prequel. I think The PhM is better. (RothJ also is a pretty bad movie except for some cool parts, but it's entertaining.) Some Dark Horse comics, set in different time periods, from the early 10s, got me interested in Star Wars again. I avoided the (good) cartoon for years. Every time I saw Anakin I wanted to stop watching. Stoppard's ghost writing may be the only reason RothS, which is a lot of talking, is watchable, and the cartoon helped it a lot. The acting is much better. Did Lucas have an assistant director? The editing is better in parts like the opening battle. McDiarmid is hilarious and awesome in it. He's the main reason to watch it, though Lucas shouldn't have needed to rely on him and making the Emperor (already a cheesy and perplexing character) a different character and a joke to make the movie watchable. Grievous is kind of cool, though he is tagged on and his cough is annoying and lame. But Dooku is awful, so Lucas needed a new villain. He should have put back in the unused scene of Grievous executing a Jedi which has completed effects (though also a bad joke). (I wish they would do the effects for all the metal, unused battleship rescue scenes, though there is awful humor in them.) The Wookie battle is cool but tagged on. Lucas should have shown Anakin taking out adult Jedi in battle at the temple in the holovid. I wish Lucas would have had Anakin suspect the Separatists will assassinate his wife. AothC needs tweaks even more. Lucas must have known this. It's a hacked out movie. Tweaks would have made it less of a confusing mess, but it still would be terrible. (Some tweaks: 1. Anakin only takes out some of the Sand People 2. Only the Trade Federation is with the Separatists (they make very little sense) 3. A couple of the unused scenes should have been put in 4. No Death Star nonsense 5. Anakin sees Jango with Dooku in the arena 6. Anakin uses the dark side against Dooku 7. Maybe imply the Sand People were paid by Sidious by showing a box of gold with them, and this shows Sidious is rich)

I remember when these came out. My town has two Walmarts so I went to the first and put every single character in my cart and immediately put them all on layaway. Then I proceeded to drive to the other Walmart and do the same thing with all the rest of the figures they didn’t have at the first Walmart. At one point I had a full set 68 Revenge of the Sith figures including the first four “Sneak Peak” figures and the elusive blue saber mistake Palpatine!
