Oh Alan, I'm relating soooo hard! My dad used to do the exact same thing - except with all the holiday homes and hotel rooms we stayed in! No-one was allowed to be in the frame, or talk, as he panned around the bedrooms, then the bathroom, then the living space and kitchenette - and the resulting videos were like a cross between an estate agents' pitch and a Crimewatch reconstruction (but somehow even *less* exciting.)
@jaymercer4692
@jaymercer4692 2 жыл бұрын
My grandads commentary over the videos from our holidays was always so funny. Whenever he filmed the villas we were in were the best. Just the most dull delivery possible of lines like, “This is the kitchen” and then slowly panning across the kitchen or describing what he thinks is particularly interesting about our dishwasher. Then walking slowly over to the lounge area “This is the lounge” and so on. It wasn’t until we discovered giving it to my younger brother was even more hilarious we stopped having that. Giving a kid a camcorder and telling him to film the bits of the Villa he thinks is most noteworthy and then him just filming the fridge and pointing out how much wine is in there for my Nan or just filming down a drain hole and fuck all else. It was best when we first did it and no one decided to check if he had actually filmed anything decent, getting back home, setting up the tv and just seeing the utter tripe he’s tried his best on. So much fun.

I live just up the road from Bourton-on-the-Water (pronounced Boorton, not Burton) and the model village is indeed brilliant. The entire village is reproduced in full, down to updated shop names and even the colour of doors on houses. I mean, I bloody LOVE a model village (yes, I know…) but this one is particularly good :)

@onemercilessming1342 2 жыл бұрын
@@joanne4758 I went in first grade, 1956. I went again in the mid 1970s. It had deteriorated somewhat by then. In 1956, there was a life-sized display of an area Indian raid (I always thought it was the one written of in the book, A Light in the Forest, which Disney made into a movie.) There was a gift shop, too. The story was that the original builder used to climb one of the local hills and was fascinated by how tiny the village and roads and railroads looked to him, and, so, he began to build his miniature America. He was a devout man and loved America. At the end of the tour, there was an electronic rainstorm, then night "fell" and his display lit up. Just before you left, there was a tribute to the Blessed Mother, and the National Anthem played. I loved it as a 6 year old and, again, in my mid-20s. I suppose that he and his children are all gone to their great reward now, so I'm not surprised it's dismantled. Still, it's a shame.
