Yes, it is essential to do that.

Good receiver will stem one side or another to get you off your grass. Then rip, get skinny and stack. Make the DB protect his leverage by pushing him off the line then stacking back on the line. Good points coach!!

First and foremost thanks for all your content I have been watching these and studying with my son he’s 10 playing Pop Warner third year now and plays flag year round I wanted to drop a question that I can’t seem to get an answer on due to varying opinions from his coaches When he’s guarding the receiver and he already opened his hips and he’s following the receiver when the ball is in the air and the receiver is going for the catch Is it better to turn around and look to get the pick or just put his hands up in hopes to block the ball by deflection Some coaches he works with say don’t turn your head around just put hands up to cause deflection Some coaches want him to turn his head around at the same time he’s running with receiver right when the receiver is about to make the catch this way he has a better chance to see the ball and get an interception In your professional experience what is the best method when the pass is about to be made by the receiver should dbacks turn their head slightly and try to intercept or focus more on keeping head straight eyes on hips and trying to deflect with hands up

Ok thank you will do I’ll inform him to actually aim for the ball and not just swat away

What if the receiver seems like they're running straight forward but it is actually a long in but your in the process of turning your hip how would you cover that?

Not sure what you are asking

@@GridironStuds I mean what if they cut early but you are still going vertical
@GridironStuds2 жыл бұрын
@@haydenfiasco4616 if they cut and you still have cushion, you should still be in your back pedal. You should now be making a break out of your back pedal to defend the route. If you have already opened up then you are executing a break out of your crossover run.

@@GridironStuds Thank you for telling me this because I like to play a lot off man and I can only imagine if you turn too early and letting up like 30 yards

Eyes on his hips, if he drops you drop, and drive on the ball. That’s where having good hips separated good dbs from great.

Its a feel thing. Cause if u bite the cheese, a good wr will embarrass you. Its about his pace and distance from you.

When you you say to get vertical do you mean to stand up straight?
