Two years ago I was stuck in one of these jobs. My boss treated me like garbage. He almost killed me one day when he lost control of an excavator and almost crushed me to death. This was a day after lecturing me up and down about not being careless because I almost broke a tool on accident. Now I'm working a job I really love. Doing what I used to do with my dad growing up. (Land surveyor) he's really proud of me and my coworkers are Christian like me and we even all pray together before our shift and our lunch. I'm so much happier now. Absolutely. You ALWAYS have a choice, even if you have to put in some work to prepare your exit. DO NOT stay in jobs that deteriorate your physical or mental health! You need more skills to get out of the current job? Save money, take some courses, get those skills. Where there is a will, there is a way out. You cannot let yourself be at the mercy of stupid, selfish, narcissistic people. To be used and abused until you have nothing left to give. Plan your exit! You are a human being and you deserve to work in decent conditions that don’t require you to be humiliated everyday. Especially when you work in corporate, where they make billions of dollars off the fruit of your labour and you see peanuts. Not to mention recognition.

I think reading this has inspired me to put in my 30 day notice. It’s actually been a great job but it’s like a train that won’t stop. @@elmoradordelrefugio8910 Well, interesting…once I decided I was going to put in my 30 day notice, it gave me a great sense of relief & I started only doing the most important things & what affects employees safety & well-being. I started putting off little items or taking much longer to complete them & nobody seem to notice! I’ve started leaving work on time most nights and I now spend more quality time with my aging parents. So, I had a shift in my perspective & decided not to put in my 30 day notice after all. Now my philosophy is to really enjoy the good people at work & all the challenges & embrace growth. I still have some hard days, but I don’t want to retire yet. I like being productive & hope to always do some kind of job as long as I possibly can contribute. So I’ve re-established commitment to the job for now. Thank you for asking. I hope you are also doing well. And if you have any worklife balance tips, I’d love to hear them. Cheers🤓

Baby, listen. You need to take a look at your current skills and maybe start an online business on the side. You will be able to diversify your income and you will be your own boss, and still be able to work for your father. You don’t NEED to be an employee! KZbin teaches you everything, for free. You can literally learn anything on KZbin nowadays. Have a skill? Or interested in getting a new skill? People sell paper flower bouquets and beaded jewellery and shit. There will always be a buyer for anything you can think of that’s cool to you. Yeah it takes some time to set a business up, but there are so many small business owners out there who started with little investments here and there and they make enough to support themselves, plus they’re having the time of their life working, packing orders, writing thank you notes. Even if you don’t have a hobby or a particular skill, you can sell a service. Idk, learn how to create CVs for free in Canva and get commissions from people who need a nice professional looking CV. Think about it. I work in corporate and I have been working for 8 years, I’ve had it honestly. I always loved to draw, so I taught myself digital illustration and now I’m starting a business selling stationery and art prints, stickers with my art. Marketing does just fine on Tiktok and KZbin if you have the time. I learned every single skill needed to start this, all by myself, you know, one brick at the time and one day I’ll see the castle. Yeah I’m still working that corp job and I have to work for my business in my free time, but my business work doesn’t feel like work. Suddenly I found myself having overcome anxiety and depression, for good. Sometimes anxiety and depression are just messages from your body and psyche that you’re in a place that’s detrimental for your health. It’s like “why are you doing this to us, again?”. Look up Gabor Mate and “when the body says no”. Please please please do not feel bitter anymore, and sad. We are brainwashed so bad to think we’ve failed if we don’t join the “hustle” insanity. Please. Wish you love and light, and healing.
