I'm also thinking about cutting the lawn a litter shorter. I usially cut it shorter for the winter, but during the growing months my deck height is at the top setting. I'm not sure what height i should have it, but I feel like the long grass blades are matted down, espicially after striping. I feel like the matted blades are blocking sunlight and water from getting down to the soil. Thanks.

I over seeded about a month ago, I cut everything rather short as you said here, but it has been unseasonably cold here in Missouri and the seed has not really taken off yet..but the old grass is starting to be wanting mowing. I don't want to disturb the seed any, Also the tallest parts of the lawn are a few patches of weeds I seem to have to spray off every year. But I am a little nervous that the weed killer might interfere with the new grass. Of course the weeds popped up in the more bare spots where I was hoping the seed to take over first.
@PacificNorthwestLawns
@PacificNorthwestLawns Жыл бұрын
This is exactly why you shouldn't overseed in the late winter or early spring. Fall is always better.
@colmortimer1066
@colmortimer1066 Жыл бұрын
@@PacificNorthwestLawns The local lawn center made it sound like dealing with the problems around the end of February was better than waiting until the fall. I was hoping at the worst case I could get something established especially on one hillside in the front, where it is mostly dirt dead grass and weeds. Then maybe add a bit more in the fall to any problem areas left. I was looking it up, and what I have is called Purple Deadnettle. I think I need to get rid of it if I can, without harming my seed, so the grass can fill in some, then put down a pre-emergence in the early winter to stop it from regrowing.

Hey buddy I plan on starting a dormant over seed here within a couple weeks, gonna power rake and do some light to medium leveling, soil has a fair amount of movement being as wet as it was for our winter on the east side, its a full tri stand of heat tolerant bluegrass, 2 to 3 weeks for germination, with either a 20inch cali trimmer with a grooved roller or a 27inch tru cut with no roller currently. Would i be safe to mow through my germ period as normal? ( currently once a week as the lawn wakes up)

When should I use my lawn mower again after someone put the netting down for new grass to grow? I didn't put it there. The electric company was doing some work and they messed up the grass so they put seeds on grass and the net. I also saw some kind of metal parts they used to put down the net. I want to know when I can cut my grass again and how to remove the metal part to cut my grass?
@PacificNorthwestLawns

The metal things are probably just stakes or staples to hold the netting in place. They pull right up. I personally would never use that stuff. If it were me I'd pull it up right away unless you're worried about a huge rain storm washing stuff out.
